I liked the show too. It was very loosely based on some historical fact, but not much! There was a Col. Lard that was after Pappy and the Black Sheep. When Pappy was shot down and captured by the Japanese, he was questioned by the Japs. Pappy told them the location of Lard's house on base and they bombed it!  That was from Pappy's autobiography.
