Shake!! (Zephyr... 50 or less production #s on the Raptor)...

Hate to say this Kap, but you owe me the cash already! Congress just passed an additional increase in the number of authorized Raptors to be built while in low rate production and funded them...

The program is so far along by now, and there's really only one congressman who threatens the ax now, that production looks assured. As soon as they hang some small diameter bombs off the wings or even put them in the bay suddenly you have a capability rivaling the F-15E (maybe not in target aquisition but a drone could fix that), and everyone will love the plane.

50 F-22s? We wont even need that many. There's nothing else that'll be able to touch it.

now now now Biggs, the F-22 is an unproven weapon that has NEVER been in battle so you cant say things like that.

Big, Kap is right dont bost if something is unproven, yes the F-22 is cuttin edge, and probalby will rule the skies. But what if lets say the Chines develop a new radar and a missile to go with it that are tuned to track "Stealth" that would make the aircraft obsolite.

not too sure about that Bigs after the things you were saying about the F-35.

That was kinda different.

We were comparing it with existing American aircraft which the F-35 is scheduled to replace. Now I was comparing it with foreign built potential enemy aircraft.

And to my knowledge there is no other air dominance fighter set for mass production (excluding blue-prints and anything from Russia considering their piss poor economy).

Besides- the F-22 has actually been tested out (by test pilots) and has been proven to have excellent performence in the a2a role. While I'm not aware of any a2g JSF test taking place.

JSF was extensively tested with air to ground ordnance.

I believe it will be heavily tested out and approaved with nearly every conventional ordnance we have in teh inventory today and plan to have in the next 25 years...

nope, not really , and huh uh, (lol) one reason I prefered the F-22 over the YF-23 was that I didnt feel the YF-22 was putting ALL it's eggs in the stealth basket. It has shown to not only have great flight abilities but abilities far and above those of mortal aircraft in the sky, a 60,000lb fighter that can not just "dance" with anything else out there but absolutly make the other plane look foolish!! Pilots that cut thier teeth on F-16 and F-15 have invented the phrase "it's like clubbing baby seals" in referance to contests with other fighters. Raptor is an appropriate name for this plane as it will feed on anything that it comes across with ease, "Flying Sledgehammer" and "I Smasha You Face In" would be just as descriptive for the F-22.
