Anyone else think that it's about time they start thinking about bringing back Pin-Up's and distinct markings for aircraft? I don't mean for something like an F/A-22 or an F-15E that depends on it's camoflague for either stealth technology or just added visual protection. Though, imagine a B-52 or a C-130 with a pretty lady painted on the side :) :!:

I know we'd hear a lot of bs from the femanist groups, but hey, just use the B-52's and take care of them while we're at it.

Actually, not all the nose art on aircraft during WWII was pin-ups. Allot of it was cartoon charactatures. Some of the art was just a name or slogan. I'll have to hunt up the site I stumbled accross recently with many photos of WWII nose art.

Uhhhh "pinup" girls (albeit now scantily clothed at the least) and cartoon characters are allowed on aircraft noses the last I heard. At least I heard that in the late '80s or early '90s of the ban that had existed was reversed.

I believe that the nose art has again been either officailly banned or limited to only special events on aircraft, simply becasue the addition of these markings can increase the aircraft visibility and RCS...

The Navy says that they can have the Blue Angels F/A-18's combat ready in a number of hours, something like 48 or 72 hours. Does anyone know if this would include a paint job?

I don't know, but they once said the Thunderbirds were in a combat mission over the loud speaker while they were performing. It was kinda hard to get the details cause an F-16 came in and buzzed the crowd while he was talking (loudest thing I've ever heard in my life).
