close up it might work very well, but not because of the "digital squares" just because it's a disruptive pattern, at a distance ( a 150 yards or more) it will still break down to the relative luminence differance between the camo and the background.

You can't tell me that green/woodland camo would ever blend in with the desert sands. Maybe if there was a bush or somethin around, but not out in the open. That's like wearing a glowing orange hunters outfit at night when you want to stay out of sight.

once again, depends on the luminance not the chromanace at longer ranges, whether you believe it or not is no concern of mine, I've seen a camo colored APC-113 fade into a gray sky background with nothing more than changing the lighting.

Yes lighting is the key... in WWII they experimented with lighting the undersurfaces of aircraft to dispell the shadows.. The aircraft dissapeared from ground view when at altitude, because the only thing you could see from the ground was the darkened lower fuselage and lower wing surfaces... However this had the opposite effect for detection by another aircraft ... it made it alot easier to detect the plane at a distance from above or at the same altitude...

the famed "Yahudi Lights", I've heard that they have also tried this on the intakes for the F-15E, but I would not see much usefullness from this seeing as how it is basically a night striker.

I saw a t.v. special about how this magician made a city disappear during WW2, in the Mediterranean theatre to Nazi bomber aircraft.

They like had the entire city go lights off, and they placed a ton of lights and the like into the nearby Sea.

Then when the Nazis came for their night bombing runs, they dropped all their bombs into the Sea, thinking that that's where the city was.

I forget the name of the city, and the magician that pulled this off though.
