And how did he fool the us and ussr? The ussr knew he was going to attack them. They just saw that treaty as something to buy them time. And we were in the war in 1940. We were in undeclared, unresticed sub warfare as well as aiding the Brits with pilots, money, equipment, etc.

by the way Leo- the Soviets were on Germany's side while they were invading Europe. Hell the Russians even helped the Germans militarily crush Poland.

They WERE an axis power, they weren't good guys. Then Hitler turned the tables and invaded Russia. That's how Russia came on board the allied wagon.

And even then they were doing crap behind our back (stealing the B-29 from us).

The U.S. on the other hand had limited assets in Europe and the Pacific fighting the Germans and Japanese.

Volunteer American fighter squadrens saw action in both theatres, we also heavily supplied the British war effort as well as the Chinese war effort against Japan...........

Its quite pathetic that the first really long range Soviet bomber was actually just a copied American design. Pathetic ass bastards! Tu-4 Bull my ass. Its a B-29 with Russian writing. Oh yeah and its also not as capable. Simply stunning. Stupid morons!

the Tu-4 IS the B-29, (heres the story for Leo)-

Stalin placed an order for the B-29 from the U.S. while WW2 was still on (which was politley declined, in lame mans terms Leo..................we said no).

Not sure of the dates here, but while flying a mission over Japan 3 B-29s sustained serious damage and were forced to land. Due to an agreement with the Russians we flew to one of their bases in the port city of Vladivostock and landed.

The Russians in turn took the crew and unofficaly held them hostage while they determined what to do with the B-29s.

Stalin basically ordered 1 to be taken apart, 1 to kept together as a guide, and for the other to be entered into the Russian airforce as a trainer plane.

Stalin then ordered a rivet by rivet copy of the B-29 which he got and was named the Tu-4.

The B-29s were never returned. However they did give the downed crews back to the U.S.

The Tu-4 retired shortly after (the jet age was on) without ever dropping a bomb.

It was even airborne for a mission over Hungary but it was called back............

Yep basically but it wasn't as good. It couldn't hold the same amount of ordinance and it was generally inferior because of avionics, etc. Don't know if they managed to copy the Norden bombsight but I doubt they could have used it properly anyway. B-29 was the shiznit! Hell see what it did over Korea. Damn what an impressive plane.

Copy of something is never quite as good as the original.

F-15 = Su-27 is probably better
F-16 = MiG-29 is a fair assumption but ehh
F-108 = MiG-25
XB-70 = S-400

etc. etc. etc.

It was actually a very dumb move by the Soviets to copy the B-29 in the first place.

For 1 thing- the jet age was about to come on for GODS sake! they had to yank it right away so they could develop jet bombers.

2. all the money it cost to build the Tu 4 just so it could be taken out of service was kind of a waste.

Stalin should have concentrated his entire effort to building a jet bomber of RUSSIAN design. Had they done that Russia may have been able to move ahead in the arms race...........

Well maybe u guys are being a little too sceptical, of russians. Yes Tu-4 is a copy, but why call eveyother good and half decent aircraft a copy. Has ever anyone thought that some western equipment was a copy of its Russian counterpart? I am just curioous, sence communists kept everything secret, how can we know when it was developed and when it was shown to the public. So maybe when Russians shown the _________(NAME GOES HERE) to the public the west has already put out _________ (NAME GOES HERE) the copy.

Just some food for thought.

Just to remember everyone: I don´t give a F(*&% if NATO and WARSAW used to copy eachothers.... 8)
And about Hitler.... Guess who gave em the money to rebuild Deutschland(germany guys) after WW I?........ If you awnsered US, UK n France then I have to say that you are correct....

With the Stalin Intenationals plans going on, The Allies decided to Isolate USSR from the rest of the world such as to stop that *illness* called comunism.... And they gave the germans all the Money and Ifraestructure they needed to stop the ruskies in a eventual europpean incursion..... Tipical.... who beats up someone tends to forget it easily but who is beaten will never forget.... Hitler used this Nazis feelings supported by the defeat that germany suffered in WW I to lead the germans against europe...... NVA, Tank, Am I saying BS?

US rejected the Treaty of Versailles. We take no credit for that. We didn't think it was very fair to penalize Germany so bad but the UK and France (esp) seemed to think it was a wise idea. Plus when Hitler came to power we were the only place (other than Churchill) who saw it as a threat to the world.

BT if you put them side by side to development year to IOC then you'll see US stuff was way ahead of the Ruskies. Hell it isn't just aircraft. Ever see a sound analysis chart for submarines? US subs had the Ruskies whipped senseless in sound. They made some loud mofos. Just about the only thing they ever had on us was that they launched a satellite before us. They never did get to the moon. That's all us baby and I think we need to stop anyone else from going there. US flag to fly on that baby forever!
