Nah, every combat is that time... doesnt matter what the weapons are or how they are imployed... When you dead, your dead...

Doesnt matter if a missile, rocket, cannon shell, machinegun bullet, or a handgun bullet killed you from WWI to Iraqi Freedom... You will still be just as dead! :!:

The F-15 has the F-16 by over 70 kills. But that's cause the F-15 has always been the one in the heat of the action.

A lot of people have F-15s as well BT- Saudi Arabia, Japan, Israel, etc.

It don't matter- they'll never get the F-16 to pass the F-15 in confirmed kills. I don't care if every nation on Earth has it.

Never say never. Look how many MiG-21s are still around. In 20 years the F-16 may be like that- who knows what 3rd world nations will have it. If there's a relatively big war with F-16s used by both sides it could happen.

I personal am amzed that the F-16 is in servie with the USAF. I mean they wee in some manner oposed to the idea of a single engine light multirole fighter. It would have eazily went the way of the F-104 and F-5. Great export but not perfered by its own country.

Yeah just those three countries with the addition of the US. South Korea may soon operate the F-15K.

If that were to happen the F-16 would lose it's perfect record

F-16 vs YF-17, great story. 2 almost equally matched jets competeing for the title of newest American fighter jet. AF picks the F-16, Navy doesn't agree, Navy holds its own tests, upgraded F-17 made and dubbed the F/A-18, and the rest as they say is history.

I wonder what would have happened had the AF picked the F-17 instead of the 16........

Well what amazes me is that so many of what the USAF fast fighters and future are and were twin engined. And a single engined jet did fly too well with many planners.

Navy likes two engine jets for safety reasons so they probably would have picked the F-17, but probably kept their development as far from the AF's as possible. The F-111 was probably still fresh in the mind at the time. But with the JSF it seems as if the memory is fading.

Not true Zephyr.... The USN has a longer history of single engined jets vs multi engined jets...

The F9F Panthers & Cougars, FJ-1, FJ-2 ,FJ-3, FJ-4 Furies, F-8 Crusaders, F11F Tiger, A-4 Skyhawks, A-7 Corsair IIs, AV8A Harrier and B Harrier II, and now the JSF F-35 B and C...

Plus a=nearly all pre WWII and WWII combait aircraft operating from carriers were single piston engined...

But the 2 best Navy fighters ever (IMO) are both twin engine (F-14, and F/A-18).
