I can make out what appears to be tan near the stabilizers. Are you sure that isn't desert camo?

Those are just old photographs of Lockheed "Skunk Works" prototype F-117 in its testing and operation phases. It was never meant to be a production model of the F-117 knighthawk.

and you base that on what?

Well Kap, I to can see varying shades of green and browns in your photo... It seems to add up to the same pattern displayed in the other Photo that the USAF claimed was the original test aircraft setup for testing in the desert back in the early 80s or late 70s....

Plus that Ford Dualie Pickup seems to also be from that time frame...

I have 19 other pics of this plane and there is no camo pattern to it whatsoever, the differing "colors" are coming from the higher or lower reflection of light on the angled surfaces of this plane.

It appears to be at Tonapah rather than Groom Lake since I dont believe any rail-road tracks run through area 51 lol. I believe these may be the earliest non-official pics of the F-117 being towed from one place to the other (notice the large nearly all moving rudders are not installed) with a brown tarp covering the plane to protect it from sattelite view, before it had been made public. There also appear to be pieces missing from this side of the nose also pointing to the idea that it was getting maintainance and going from one hanger to another.

Many of you have probobly already tracked down the origin of these pics, but there is no info there unfortunatly.

If the pics were taken at Groom Lake then they would have been destroyed long ago! (and you'd probably have men in black kicking down your door).

But why don't you post some of those other pics KAP? This is the first I've seen of them.

You know, it does look tarp covered.... perhaps the entire aircraft is tarp covered?

Do you have additional pics showing the tarp?
