Post subject: | Interesting pic of Thunderbird F-16 eject at airshow! |
I just stumbled unto this on another forum I belong to; It's a pic of a Thunderbird F-16 pilot ejecting just 8/10 of a second before inpacting the ground. Amazing! http://www.modelcarkits.com/cgi-bin/web ... ead=406797 http://community-2.webtv.net/guyhocker/Ejection/ http://www.strangecosmos.com/view.adp?picture_id=15012 Ackording to the few infos I found about it so far: (all from the Hobby Heaven message board) "He was doing a loop and the altitude ASL was not the same as alitude AGL. He realized impact with terra firma was inevitable so ejected. Impact was approx. 8/10sec after ejection." " I happened to be there doing a static display with one of our EA-6B's - it was at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. CadPhreak gave the details - there's also a story in the latest "Air Force Times" newspaper on it. Our plane was parked about a mile almost directly across the runway where the plane impacted. Didn't hear the impact - didn't see it either as I was talking to some folks about our plane and heck, it was just another Thunderbirds show. . . Fortunately the pilot got one swing in the chute and was able to stand up and wave to the crowd. People were then wondering if the show was going to continue . . . umm, no. The photo had to have been taken from the tower; what an amzing photo - wondered what those people in the tower thought as the plane was heading their way. Fred. " FlatulentFox Unusual flyer with unusual ideas: the laws of physics do not apply to me! (hum; I wonder what was the "call-sign" of that pilot...) |

Cool pic, all I gotta say is why did Goose have to nail the canopy!? Ruined any chance of a followup Top Gun being made and any jet-related movie worth watching lol. Jimbo |

Jimbo Top Gun 2 would have blown nut. Seriously sequeals are never better than the first and usually ruin the first. Case & Point (Fast & Furious 2, the Matrix's) Now only one movie I can think of with a sequeal that kicked ass more than the first (Terminator 2) but they lost it with T3. |
