Its neither... The warheadws were all accounted for, and the SA-2s were sent for destruction. They are not usable items... The missiles were destroyed, but no one removed them from teh inventory, all that is left of them is the scrap components...

Figures...get my hopes up for use of weaponry against a former Soviet republic (despite it being in NATO).

The average age of these SA-2s were over 35 years old...

They were wll past their storage lives and useless...

Yeah well the missile entered service in 1957 so it's an old system. Not very effective anymore but still widely used.

newest versions are still quite effective... we lost aircraft to SA-2s over Iraq and Yugoslavia...

On the whole though it's an outdated system. Just unlucky pilots for those incidents. It's not as modern as the SA-6 or even the SA-11, which. Have we ever faced an SA-11 site? Active site that is?

I dont really know... the SA-11 isnt their most modern medium ranged SAM either... Its upgrade is the SA-17...

Not to many countries can afford to update their SAM systems... China still heavily relies on its version of the SA-2...

However I do not know the combat records of the SA-11 or SA-17... Perhaps they do over at ACIG?

CAG out...

SA-2 is the most widely used SAM I think. As far as site-wise goes, not MANPAD or mobile.
