How do you guys feel about the Dingo 2 APV over the Humvee?

http://www.systems.textron.com/pdf/prod ... asheet.pdf

I like it a lot. Sure it is a LOT heavier and it is a bigger target than the Humvee but I am partial to the armor. And yeah it does cost 10x more.

We are using it, but it doesnt look as cool as the Humvee.

It does look a little evil/mean though, if you know what I mean. Comparable to the Bf-109 maybe.

In terms of protection it seems to be state of the art even against mines and rpgs.

How effective against RPGs is it?
Also, do you have any specifications on the Fennek?

KMW (the company which produces it) claims the Dingo is equipped with a deflector system which makes it nearly immune against anti-tank-mines and RPGs.

I find that hard to believe, especially since it doesnt look like it could survive an RPG hit against a window or so. And how can such a light vehicle survive an anti-tank-mine, if a heavily armored tank cannot?

This site has got some good info on German equipment (in english) but no tech data and some of the numbers are out of date:

RGRT I've seen that site. Maybe 1 RPG hit but if gets hit enough its going to go down. Still better than Humvee which can survive what, 0?

They say it is protected against all hand/shoulder-launcher weapons... that would even include heavy RPGs and ATGMs. But that simply cannot be true.

Its impossible... Abrams tanks can even be penetrated by RPGs, what chance does this vehicle have? It must have reactive type armor to breakup the formation of the HEAT jet, but tandem warheads would then defeat it...

I would like to see this vehicle stand up to a Dragon or some such weapon...

What a joke...

I cant see how it could even have a remote chance of surviving a Javelin hit. And it does not have any reactive armor.

It think reactive armor could be fitted. I wonder about that RPG netting they made for the Stryker.

You know they are devloping a type of electrical field to be employed around vehicles that would render missiles harmelss, that they would explode before they hit the vehicle.
