for all who thought the Phantom was just that, a phantom... you will be happy to know that Greece has updated its fleet of F-4E's in its "Peace Icurus" program making them the most capable Phantoms in the world. The program was based of the German F-4F ICE program, but more comprehensive. |

"most capable" is debatable as Greece's rival Turkey has fairly capable F-4E Terminator 2020s with ground attack emphasis. ![]() Zephyr |

All F-4s are suspect as effective combat platforms in todays antiair environment anyway... |

yes it is debatable, but Im bios due to the fact im half greek LOL ... but the Greek Peace Icurus Phantoms do utilize the Litening 2 pod to support the ground attack role as well |

Homeboy The F117's are on the way out only, so the Air Farce can save enough money to buy more F/A22's. The F117 air frames have many more years of flight left in them. That is a waste to the taxpayers. The one that was shot down was only LUCK by the Serbs. Regards, Pappy |

The F-22 will take over the F-117s role as a stealthy penetrating striker. The Raptor has an RCS as low or lower than the F-117 and has obvious surviveability advantages. |

I have to agree with both Kaptor and Pappy... F-117s still have alot of life left in them, but they are based on older technology and are highly vulnerable to airborne threats. I dont understand why they need to be fully retired though, other then as a cost saving effort, as they are still effective as night penetrators. They can do a job that F-16s simply cant in that role. I would have expected the USAF to keep them in the inventory until they can be replaced by the F-35s... |

Like Pappy infered, every USAF dime is going into the F-22. The AF KNOWS what it has in that system and they want as many as possible, even sacrificing ( sorta ) the much needed C-17 for now. In the immediate future the F-22 will be a force multiplier for the F-16s and 15s, as more come into the inventory the AF will simply be crushingly capable due to the electronic caps the Raptor brings to the fight. When I can get to it I will be posting articles at the WING about the electronic sledge hammers we are developing. Those of you who arent keeping up on this subject will be staggered ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I would say sell them (if possible) to a friendly second-world nation, like maybe Israel or Saudi Arabia. Or, maybe kick a few down to the Guard, like they did with the F-15A's. |

Well the F-117s are going into flyable storage, but I seriously doubt we would give them to anyone... |

I was just trying to think of a good way to pay for all of those F-22's; maybe selling Top Secret technology wouldn't be such a great idea. |
