(21:21 __ 27.01.2015) (http://sputniknews.com/) Russia nearly 100 MiG-35 products over the coming years (Official) About 100 MiG-35 fighters will be produced by Russian aircraft manufacturers under contract to be signed with the Ministry of Defence after 2016, announced Tuesday to journalists the press service of the ministry in a statement. "The contract for the delivery of MiG-35C, light fighters generation 4 ++, to be concluded after 2016. It is planned to build a total of almost 100 aircraft of this class," reads the statement. According to the document, this would create in the Russian Air Force a "optimum ratio between the parks of light and heavy fighters." The MiG-35 (NATO code: Fulcrum-F) is a 4 ++ generation multirole fighter, created based on the MiG-29 fighter. It features air-air missiles and air-to-ground and a radar Zhuk-A. Drawing claims 10 underwing hardpoints for weapons, but all the pictures only show 8?!?! Some of your image links are broken. Do those pics show the 10 hardpoints? Are these new airframes or more of the same rebuilt MiG-29 airframes like what Algeria refused and sent back to Russia? Seems to be a very small diameter radar... |

- Phazotron Zhuk AE AESA Radar - The Zhuk-AE is an X-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar designed for the Mig-35 multifunction fighter aircraft. It can track up to 30 targets and attack simultaneously the six most dangerous of them. It features a target detection range of 140-to-160 km which can be extended to 250-280 km using more receive/transmit modules while the azimuth coverage is 140-degree. The Zhuk-AE radar system supports air-to-air and air-to-surface engagement modes allowing for air-to-air and precision-guided weapons delivery. The production Zhuk-AE radar available from 2016 onwards will feature 1,100 T/R modules, a maximum detection range of 200 kilometers against a target with a radar cross section (RCS) of 5 square meters. Thanks for the link... Shows this new radar to be about 20 to 25 years behind the US designs... |
