I stumbled accross this site last night that turned out to be a wonderful resource for historic flight opperations from the CV-6 Enterprise during WWII. It includes Ships Logs reports as well as debriefing reports from the pilots that flew the sorties.
I reviewed the reports from the Battle of Midway, and fellas, if you look at the time frames for launches and recoveries, you can see that for 3 days the Enterprises flight deck was one busy place to be. It appears that there was constant launches and recovery going on from predawn until almost dark. Adding to the workload was recovery of aircraft from the CV-5 Yorktown after it was dissabled.
