Just posting the question to get a brief answer (and to remind myself not to forget it), but: is there any way to implement a rangefinding-only radar into FA, which wouldn't detect anything, but serve only to allow for a weapon such as the RS-1/2 (AA-1 Alkali) to lock onto its target?

Edit: As soon as I hit the "post" button I had a thought... perhaps setting the radar's range to match the range of the weapon, or perhaps .1 or .2 miles greater than the weapon's range would simulate this function? An issue I see with this though is that you'd have to have a separate .SEE for each weapon type, different ranges for RS-1, RS-2, RS-2US, R-55...

i don't quite understand what you want, i did add a radar for my ww2 fighters to allow detection only. meaning no tracking is available.

Well, what I'm after is something that is NOT capable of detection, but only provides the beam to guide a beam-riding missile (like the AA-1 Alkali family) to the target. I had a thought at work today to use a laser designator, since these aircraft have no radar or other detection systems besides visual detection, and set the missile as "launcher must guide" and "launcher must use laser to guide", maybe that will work.

There can be different numbers used in the doppler parameters boxes to get the same results, but here are some examples:

Multimode (ATG & ATA)

ATA targets appear on the scope and can be tracked and ranged, ATG targets do not

ATG targets appear on the scope, ATA targets do not

ATG targets appear on the scope, ATA targets appear but cannot be targeted

Nothing appears on the scope, used as a gunsight. I think this is what you are looking for (beam guidance for Alkali missiles)

Thanks Zephyr, that last one is exactly what I was after!
