i use advanced IR/LASER just because of the extra weapon windows that you get i cant remember what its called...but u get a weapon view window and a target view. If you turn off advanced targeting this windows (SHIFT-2) will be disabled. so it depends on your taste, but i really like the added target window.

I am trying to find a way to hard code in killing all target windows for everything except optical linked weapons, and for sniper pod or camera pod type appliations, for increased realism...

Target Window has nothing to do with RWR... Target Window is the poup window that lest you SEE your target, no matter the range, so you can ID it...

Not very realeastic unless you are flying with a sniper pod or in a F-14...

You got to be kidding... You dont iknow about the TCS?

Quote:
TV optical unit in undernose pod. Northrop Corporation Television Camera Set (TCS) mounted beneath nose is closed-circuit TV system, offering both wide-angle (acquisition) and telescopic (identification) fields of view. TCS automatically searches for, acquires and locks on to distant targets, displaying them on monitors for the pilot and flight officer.

Quote:
Northrop AN/AXX-1 Television Camera Set (TCS) is used for visual target identification at long ranges. Mounted on a chin pod, the TCS is a high resolution closed circuit television system with two cockpit selectable Fields Of View (FOV), wide and narrow. The selected FOV is displayed in the cockpit and can be recorded by the Cockpit Television System. A new TCS, in development, will be installed in all three series aircraft.

Then they expanded it by adding an IRST system to the mix, giving both camera and FLIR imagery...

NOT to be confused witht he cockpit television system for pilot training/mission debrief...

Quote:
Cockpit Television System (F-14A/B/D). The CTVS is used for debriefing pilots after a sortie and as a training aid. It is installed in all three F-14 series aircraft; each with a different model. The CTVS in the F-14D is an electro-optical system that displays icons from the HUD combiner and the TCS. The unit consists of a video sensor head on the HUD and an electronic unit on the HUD-Video Control Panel. The sensor signal can be fed to the mission recorder and can be displayed on the Multifunction Display Indicator Group (MDIG). The Video Control Switch on the HUD-Video Control Panel controls operation of the CTVS

oh the super tomcat...i thought you meant this was standard on the F-14A and F-14B aircraft. i know about the pod on the F-14D but i always thought it was an add-on not a standard loadout. The su-27 and some MiG-29s have this as well.

From a distance it's nice, up close it is just too "cluttered". Beautiful Navy aircraft are few and far between. I always liked the lines of the Crusader and the Phantom/Banshee as far as jets are concerned.

Why did you feel the need to bring up your project which has zero relevance to this topic at all and which I have expressed no interest in it at all. I made no comment on it what-so-ever to justify yourself in getting defensive or to even to bring it up? Seems like you are imposing your project on me and took the opporunity to name drop it and throw insults at the same time. I'm just being frank, not insulting.
