You'd be trying to raise the dead.

P.Mok libs came out before the color editor even existed..

His white F-16 is textured only. I believe he used the desert F-16 and made a Thunderbird (I did the same thing a few years back)

That is the reason his F-18s are also only painted, though those shapes are also unstable in the editor.

Essentially you are screwed in coloring those shapes. No way around it. That is one of the things that makes FA Futures so special.

Plus it was beyound my own programming capabilities. And it wasnt cheap using the time share system to do it.

CAG, are you sure that the F/A-18 can't be painted? Because there's this LIB called "Project Adversary", and it has F/A-18s in desert and ocean paint schemes...

Hmmm would be great if we could crack this code and import our own 3ds files.

Anyone who has access to Jane's ATF (Default or Gold) can you look into the F-16 shape or any other shapes that could be of some use?

I tried looking at the ATF Shapes download but that only has a select few planes and obviously not the F-16C or probably I wouldn't be still be questioning this and we'd all be happy heh.

If anyone can get a hold of them good luck. As for the F-18 I think Speedy may have a point about this ocean blue hornet but chances are the grey untextured spots were just un-noticed.

The F-16 in ATF is even less detailed then the one in FA... I keep telling you it isnt worth the effort...

CAg tell me this F-16 shape of yours that went through the "Super Computers"? Can it be edited just fine now normally? If so throw it over lol why are we fart-arse'n around with the default. By the way while we're on the topic, how well does the Fulcrum shape do in airbrush I remember a lot of posts back at the old FARC board CAG, thanks. By the way throughout all that MiG and Sabre jet talk I forgot to mention how great your textures are for those 2 birds.

Later, and oh yeah as for the Fulcrum I'm trying to work on the light grey German Luftwaffe scheme.

I am sorry but these shapes are owned by VNFAWING, not just myself.. Thus I can not distribute them openly.

No they are not recolorable once rebuilt in the new color. THey are even more unstable in the editor then the original shapes.

Jimbo,

I suggest you concentrate your efforts on those shapes that can be colored to match your work, instead of on those that can not be, unless you can modify your skins to blend to the defaut colors on the shapes..

There will be no other solution in the foreseeable future, unless we can alter the source code enough to support differetn shape files, and that is no easy task, though it is on the devlopment list, since new shapes will be required for a new D3D graphics engine for FA2...

A while back when I was trying to do a similar LIB I redrew the texture on the F-16 to have the ocean colorings but the game crashed, I don't believe there were any color conflicts of for that matter, conflicts in the texture (I made sure of that with a mask). I'm going to try again to do it and I'll get back later on it. So far I've made a little progress on the LIB itself, but for the meantime I'm sort of putting the map on the back burner. The way I look at it, it'll take nearly 262,144 clicks of the right mouse button to do the job. Oh, by the way. I found this while I was searching the web last night, http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Hangar/9520/editors/download.html

I don't know if he ever managed to get a final release out, however... It looks VERY promising for someone to take it where it left off, if... anyone can get a hold of him. I'll try this evening or tomorrow.

I remember about a year ago, I stumbled unto this:
(warchest 2000)

http://pub25.ezboard.com/fthevnfacommce ... D=98.topic

I do not know if it is still available from www.flightsim.com
I downloaded it then, but haven't been able to make it work.

CAG, you definitely need to check this out... my eyes don't decieve me here... http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Runway/7476/

The F/A-18s are clearly blue and desert, the shape has been changed...

COME ON MAN, that's just skinning, NOT shape re-coloring. Settle down, it's not gonna happen for a while with certain shapes.
