Hi,

is there any way in the Pro Mission Creator or .m file editing to place the 3D picture of a weapon (a bomb, missile or anything that can be seen through the F12 view mode) somewhere on the ground, e.g. to the tarmac close to the parked aircraft like in airshows??? Without CTD, of course.- :)

I remember one strange experience through the PMC when somehow I managed to do it, placed flying SAM's in the air etc. Maybe accidentally I typed some very secret key code eh??? The came the worst CTD of my life  and it was never seen again...

I found another strange thing. I've tried to use the "controller $80" line for different objects that aren't player controlled and of course there was no trace of cockpit and so but why can't use the simple radar, rwr, system or especially weapon select things in this mode as the original object surely had seekers as well as weapons??!!

If someone can offer me a medicine for these amateurish wounds, well, I'd be glad. What's much worse, the Toolkit doesn't run on my system by other mysterious reasons. If it would, I could have never asked these questions indeed...

Thanks and good hunting!

You can do this using the FA Toolkit. Give an object like the "crate" one of the missile or bomb shapes and a unique name that you'll recognize. Build the library, and in the pro mission, place the weapon next to the aircraft. The Toolkit can be downloaded here:

Also, you could give the object a shadow shape of one of the mules, and the weapon might look like its on a dolly. That would be slightly more complicated.

It's OK but as I said I realized this option accidentally when editing through Pro Mission Creator! There should be a key command to allow us to place these weapon objects. Also I have never got the Toolkit for libs. It always replies the "unable to fetch record..." type error message. My experience with the weapons-on-tarmac thing was through PMC indeed. Any tip?

Are u sure you were not using a lib at that time? I would expect that FA is unable to have ordnance (in terms of game logic, not in terms of graphics) be in a mission, as a weapon has to be spawned by a unit. Moreover there can be only a limited number of active weapons at one time. A static weapon would occupy one of those slots and would interfere with the game. I dont believe that this is possible.

There was a lib loaded for sure but I still have all the libs I had at that time and no one of them can reproduce this effect. I must tell that in the object selection menu these stuffs were marked with a pre type of $ or ~, I think.

It rather seems to be an absurd dream by reactions but there must be an answer...

Do we have any other "secret" key code than the alt- right shift - right ctrl thing?

I have never heard of this myself, but it doesnt mean it doesnt exist...

Also if you decide to make it yourself, I would use the aa35b shade as the shadow shape(its the 4 wheel dolly of the 39mm AAA) . I use it for hauling additional SA-2 and SA-5 missiles to the launch site...

However if you use the mule, the weapon shape will be 'inside' the mule because the mules are all 2D shapes and have no 'solidity'...

CAG out...
