I have 3 shots to post here... Originally I had 5 to post, but my zip drive decided to eat the last two. They were the best two shots also... Though I still have them on my home system and will upload them tomorrow...

what I did to alter the shape so far...

1) removed the large radar dome
2) Created landing skids
3) Raised and narrowed the tail boom.
4) Created a landing tail skid
5) Moved the tail planes forward (to the UH-1H/N configuration)
6) Moved the engine intakes closer in to the center of the shape(for the UH-1H/N configuration)
7) Lowered the cabin roof
8) Widened the cabin
9) Altered the skin layout on the shape so that I could create specific areas of the skin for the new windshield and the landing skids

UH-1Y Super Huey in USMC Grey (actually half way between a UH-1H/N and a UH-1Y - See Pic below or real UH-1Y)...

Here is the real thing...

As you can see I am still not complete.. I need to to the raised engine rotor hub dome, which is not that difficult to accomplish...Plus I have the new 'heat diffuser' on the jet nacelles , while the pic has the solid panels in place... Should I continue to model the 'heat diffuser' screens or the solid panels in the skin on the engine nacelles? I also need to move the tailplanes farther aft for this model, I have them located to far forward on the tail boom for use in the UH-1H version that I have not yet finished...

Also I should be able to model the small radar dome under the nose...

Here is a pic of the UH-1N that the shape still closely resembles (Incase I have not been specific enough there are both the H/N and the Y versions under development) You can see how the engine compartment still resembes the UH-1N, but is beign altered to that of the Y...

Image

Soon both versions will be availabe in FAF...

CAG out...

The door windows are directly from the photo real skin file... ALthough I think they are out of scale for this model, the windows seem to large...

Do you agree?

Plus you can see an internal pilot through the door windows...

You do mean the front pilot cabin windows, right?

yeah, the more I look at it the more it looks like a size thing, plus how the window squares off in the FA shape but in the real one the front section of the door window is a pointed triangle.
Still, its all good , and better than anything else we have had :-)

That's awesome.

Besides being a little long for a Huey, it looks exactly right.

Yea, shortening the model would be great... I have not yet attempted to do that in the horizontal, only in the vertical with the missile tubes on the SA-10s and SA-12s..

I learned alot more lastnight while stretching the wings on teh F-104 model to build the new U-2.. I have to move the wing and engine intakes farther forward on the model, but other then that its complete...

A new U-2... When I am fully finsihed I will post some screen shots of it...

Look for it on Monday...

I finally got around to improving my terrible UH-1N Huey...

I didnt know enough about editing the shape file yet back in 04...

I did these improvements today in an hour... Shortened, widened, and rounded the main fuselage and raised the tailboom, and corrected the 4 prop helo blades back to 2 blades, plus did some other engine improvements, but still have alot to do...

I still cant truly model the Huey accurately basing it on the UH-60 shape, but this is a vast improvement over what I originally was able to create...

I am still working on improving it further before FAF release...

I still need to cleanup around the engine area and get rid of that trailing edge left over from the blackhawk, plus clean up the skin a bit more...

I will post some more pics tomorrow when its as good as I can get it...

Not completely... I am still trying to find a way to improve the rotors like I did on the Chinooks and Seaknights...

So far no luck... :?
