F-16XL shape is close to completition... but I have not yet figured out how to do the proper cranked arrow wingtips(right now its a pure delta wing, as a matter of fact this is also close to the J-10 model which is the same but with canards), due to limitations in the shape file polygon structure of the orignal F-16 model... I will have to work on it for the next few days to get the model right... Hopefully get it right... CAG out... |

Ok, Turns out I have figured out a way to finish the F-16XL 'cranked arrow' wings... It got very luckin indeed... to truly simulate the way the wing is designed the wings leading edges and trail edges are 'cranked' into different directions... However the F-16 wing itself doesnt have enough polygons to create all the different angles for the leading and trailing edges... the leading edge 'crank' was ok, but I was short 1 rectangle polgon for the trail edge 'crank' outside the flaps... I was... until I got very lucky indeed with the existing design of the flaps on the F-16 model... instead of being one rectangle polygon on top and one on the bottom, it turns out the flaps are a set of two side by side rectangle polgons on top and two on the bottom(one set very small, but easy to expand)... so I was able to seperate them and use one rectangle polygon each on the top and bottom for the trailing edge 'crank' and 1 rectangle polgon each for the inboard flaps... and this works in both up and down flap positions... So expect some screenshots of the new F-16XL very shortly! I just have to work on the skin and lengthen the rear fuselage and afterburner cone to the proper longer length for the XL( and this is easy to do)... I will keep you all updated... CAG out... |

so your saying the default F-16 technically has inboard and outboard flaps, even though the game engine doesnt use it? |

No I am saying that the default F-16 shape uses two side by side rectangle polygons for the upper and lower flaps in both the up and down positions... I was expecting it to only have one set... I got lucky... However I can indeed change the default F-16 to have full length flaps and leading edge slats that both open on take off and landing... Like this pic below... Which also means I can also do the full length flap arrangement on the J-10, such as in the pic below... CAG out... |

I was successful last night in stretching the Fuselage of the default F-16 to fit the new length requirements of the F-16XL... Next will be the vertical stabilizer and altering the placement further aft of the main landing gear and the ventral stability vanes... I have taken some pics of the F-16XL during development, showing the different stages of alterations. I am going to post them along with the finished model by Monday... That way the users can, perhaps, understand a bit more the effort involved in altering FA shapes and keeping stability... CAG out... |

I saw a diagram with that sucker carrying 6 bombs underneath each wing in the following configuration. station 1 & 13 (wingtips): 2 AIM-9 station 2 & 12 (outer wing): 2x MK-82 station 3 & 11 (middle wing): 4x MK-82 station 4 & 10 (inner wing): 6x MK-82 station 5, 6, 7, & 8 (fuselage): 4x AIM-120 station 9 (centerline): 300 gallon fuel Now is it just me or is that pretty damn close to the Eurofighter in terms of carriage? I do love that EF-2000 though, I have to say. |

Nice pic, it even shows the false canopy on the lower fulesage... THis is why I am building this sucker... I know it wasnt chosen for production, but its performance is superior to the F-16CG and it can carry a laod as heavy as the Strike Eagle... Plus out perform the Strike Eagle at low altitude insertion... I am so close to finishing also... This is an aircraft I always wanted in FAF... BTW I can use alot more pics then what I have to work with currently... I still dont know the exact location for the landing gears and need still more details on the hardpoints... I understand the original XL is still kept in storage in flyable condition... CAG out... |

Yes perfect, that is the load I was talking about with all the bombs and it can carry all those Maverick missiles. Damn man this is a sweet a/c. |

cool, never saw the Mav pic before. CAG, note the XL doesnt use the skegs under the tail. Are you building the single or dual seat version? GREAT pics Eagle!! |
