Post subject: | Existing missions in Futures lib? |
I downloaded CAG's futures lib, and I am very impressed. One thing that bothers me though, is that I had made about 30 missions back in the day for a campaign I had wanted to build, but I don't know if or how I can play them using the Futures lib. I tried putting them back into the FA directory, but that would cause the game to crash when I started it. I had wanted to be able to load them mainly because it seems most of the shapes have changed names based on what I've seen in the single missions in the game, so I was going to make adjustments to each of the files as necessary. Any help would me much appreciated. thanks in advance |

While default missions work with GR7 they do not in Futures simply because of the objects that have been changed and so on and so fourth. |

http://omnibus.uni-freiburg.de/~s8thfes ... sions.html there are 2 FA Futures missions by me, they are more or less betas though. and make sure there are only needed files in the FA Futures directory. Too many files can cause a crash. i.e. you should move all missions into a seperate folder and only move them to the FAF dir when you want to fly them. |

does anyone know if old missions will be able to be brought into the overhauled version of FA when CAG gets done with it? Also, I used to have some info on how to build a campaign, like the ones that came with the original game. I'm looking to give the user a limited options for planes and ordinance, and possibly multiple maps as well. |

If based on default FA, the missions alone should not cause the game to crash based on what I've seen with FA Futures. However 30 missions may be too many objects to put in the FA directory, try putting a few at a time in the FA folder and see if you can edit them. Of course CAG Hotshot would be the authority on this. Zephyr |

The game crashes or will not start up? A CTD is an entirely different error and may not have anything to do with file numbers, but the lockup at boot (the opening FA Futures/Janes FA info box freezes on your desktop, see this error listed in the associated readme files within the zips) is due to to many files... HOWEVER I have some very good news on this subject, the next release of FAF will no longer have this limitation (within reason)... I have reduced the size of all the associated libraries to allow over 100 missions and briefings to exist within the FA folder without a crash or boot limitation... Now about default FA missions... FAF Korea isnt designed to use default missions, it is designed to run with an external campagin manaager to simulate a real world war on the korean penisula... FA-2 Stage 1, on the other hand, is the upgrading of default FA to FAF standards without overwriting default items, so all missions and campaigns will function properly... Expect FA-2 Stage 1 in 2005... Expect the nex version of FAF Korea late summer or early fall AND it WILL INCLUDE a full set of mission smaples from the Campaign Manager to give the user a feel for what is coming next!... CAG out... |
