Post subject: | Enhancement for FAF runways |
I noticed the additional use of snow over the runways and since I'm from Ontario I know a few things about snow, however it looks like you did it in paint (very square patches of snow). I recall the original post about the snow and here is what I wanted to say then. If you do a full RGB colour version first and use a white Airbrush you will be able to create a better snow effect. Adjust the softness for starters (make brush less hard) then play with the pressure or opacity of the layer you are putting th snow on to get the desired effect. Just a suggest that I think would look 100 times better and not look like you were so limited by FA because you could also adjust the pressure on certain areas to give the appearance that the snow has been plowed into piles etc. Jimbo |

Yes i know, those are older first gen pics of the runways with the low res skins(thus the bigger pixes squares you mentioned), I have since compressed them for MUCH higher quality resolution... Here let me show you how I changed it, this is an actualy section of one of the runways, showing the new edging to the snow and the new skid mark effects on the runway surface... Don't ya just hate being out of the loop for so long that your still behind the curve? CAG out... |

Nah it's all gravy I guess it shows that you're too modest to just show off all your work together in 1 screenshot lol. Now offtopic... where can I get FA Futures if I wanna be of some help with this shape editing, I can do much clearer comparisons than what I've seen thus far ... They just hurt my aesthetically correct eyes. Jimbo |

The main point of my posted shape comparisons isn't to make them pretty... It is showing what general modifications need to be made to change one shape to another, and it is showing relative size. Everything in FA is already out of whack size-wize, including pilot shape. Don't believe me, fly an F-15 right up over a Tu-95... the Tu-95 is 110-120% too small compared to the F-15 or vice versa! Add all the "pretty" shape comps. you want, but remember, actual pictures are always better reference, and after you get the shape file finished, using a rough comparison picture, you can just open a file of the actual thing and use it for the skin. |

No offense to the time you just wasted typing a response AIM120S, but yes I am aware of everything you just said I have been playing since 97. Jimbo |

Yes FA sufferes tremendously from scaling errors it item sizes, its one of the things I hope to correct, but its going to take a long time people, there are alot of shapes to correct... Please be patient and work with me and try to be as positive as possible. Thank you, CAG out... |
