It's October 27, 1962, the air is tense. A U-2A flying a reconnaissance mission over Cuba was shot down by an SA-2C Guideline missile under Soviet/Cuban control. While we have set up the blockaide, the Joint Chiefs are having a furball about this. General Le May is demanding for retaliation. Finally, President Kennedy gives the order, to strike the SA-2 site that is responsible for shooting down our U-2. Unfortunately, the pilot is KIA.
With M117 750 lb. bombs you take out the SA-2 site, leaving a serious situation in the air of total uncertainty. Will the Soviets respond in Berlin or will they fire their missiles from Cuba. The SS-4 Sandal sites in place have enough missiles and range to eradicate most of the east coast up to New York and including Miami and Washington.
Then, CIA officials announce to the President that the missiles in Cuba are now on a crash course. In sixty minutes, they will be ready for launch, ready to drop enough firepower over New York, Washington, and Miami to obliterate all of the cities.
Originally, the plans for airstrikes called for a ten day bombardment of the SS-4 Sandal sites, FROG-3 sites protecting the island against invasion, army barracks, air defenses, and so on and so fourth. That gives until November 6th before US troops are landed on the beach to invade and attack the country. Ten days is all the world has left before the possibility of nuclear annihilation is at hand.
In this campaign you fill fly
- 35 missions against the island of Cuba, attacking targets in Havana, San Julian, San Antonio, and other key places.
- New and exciting planes such as the B-47E Stratojet, F-6A Skyray, F-84F Thunderstreak, RF-8A Crusader, and the U-2.
- Battle against a city so heavily entrenched with air defenses that it makes World War II targets look like cake walks.
- Go up against Soviet and Cuban threats including the MiG-15bis, MiG-19P, MiG-21F-13, and the Il-28.
- Rocket off the deck of the Forrestal, Enterprise, and Essex class aircraft carriers.
- Engage and destroy heavy troop concentrations with nothing more than iron bombs and unguided rockets.
- Be forced to attack targets with good ole iron bombs, there weren't any "smart" weapons in 1962.
