Maps « on: April 30, 2003, 14:38:01 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What new maps are on the drawing board? I am not talking maps with enhanced graphics or anything, just normal maps, different from those in the game? (kinda like the Afghanistan and Sweeden one are). West Coast of the U.S. (California) Central Europe (East of France) Libya, Tunisia, and Western Egypt I'd like to see more maps of the Continental U.S. myself. Re:Maps « Reply #3 on: April 30, 2003, 17:14:58 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How about a map of Japan. Even if it does take two maps to do it, it would be cool. I have a bunch of reference maps however... FATK locks up every time I try and edit a map. I am sad. I run XP, and I doubt that it's the reason but oh well. Report to moderator Logged big man! But the original question was- what maps are in the works. lol- none here........ France will not be on it, though, itcould be added to this map, but then you wont be able to takeoff and land there. Re:Maps « Reply #7 on: May 01, 2003, 09:31:28 AM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You could simplify that by hex editing the exe file and changing the nationalities of the default map countries to reflect that of east and west germany... She would have to be to the west and you can only move the map to the eastern direction because the originator coordinates of 0,0 are the bottom left hand corner and you can only go up and to the right... Re:Maps « Reply #11 on: May 01, 2003, 18:30:06 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes I already tried that and failed... However there is always a way to get other airfields... You could make several versions of hte map simulating Soviet penetrations through Germany into France, thus moving the FLOT to the west and thus making the map in several stages, each map progressively moving to the west into France and Belgium... I'd also like to see someone make an Afghanistan campaign set during the Soviet invasion. Seeing as how America wasn't "officialy" involved in that war it'd be kinda of hard to fly for the Afghans seeing as how they has a vastly inferior airforce compared to the Russians, so it'd kinda be a bore unless you flew for the commies....... I'm still not entirely clear on what aircraft the Soviets used in this war besides Mi-8s, Mi-24s, and Su-25s. |

Soviets use Su-17s, Su-20s, Su-22s, Tu-22Ms, MiG-21s, etc, anything to attack ground targets. |

The Afghani airforce flew alongside the Soviet airforce. The Soviets installed a puppet government and equipped its military with Soviet equipment. I don't know if there even was an Afghani airforce before this. So the only air-to-air action that I know of was when Soviet and Afghani airforce (DRAAF) aircraft met Pakistani aircraft near the Pakistani border (Soviet aircraft attacked Muhajadeen camps in Pakistan). Then after the Soviet withdrawl, there was some air-to-air action between various Afghani factions before all the aircraft became unflyable: http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_69.shtml The Soviets used Mi-8s, Mi-24s, Su-25s, Su-22s, MiG-21s, MiG-23s, Tu-22Ms, Tu-22PD jamming planes to protect the Tu-22M3 near the Pakistani border, and cargo planes. The Afghani airforce was supplied with helicopters and MiG-21s and Su-22s. Zephyr |

What exactly is entailed in the start of building a new original map for FA. Can a map layout (bmp ) be imported int the FATK, then add the terrain tiles ? along with the other stuff? |
