Hi,

I used to be very much into FA years ago. I just can;t believe at what has been accomplished in this classic fighter sim.

I would like to play FA still from time to time, but one thing that always bugged me were the 'bullet' shape was way too big. I liked the tracer shape (as used in many libs back then), but still, the tracer shape seemed to be too 'long' of a straight line.

I just wanted to ask, since it has been figured out how to modify shape files, that could a tracer shape be modified t be about half the length? And, could the bullet shape be made to a little smaller scale?

If it can be done for me, it's no rush at all. Whenever you would have the time.

Thank you

"Thud"

hmm decent idea that may even prevent tracers from going invisible (unless you're in the middle of a massive airwar with flak hitting you while you drop a massive load of bombs), which i believe is all a case where FA's memory gets overloaded heh not my department I just know it happens not all the answers to why

Its the exact same shape as the tracer, simply shortened and recolored...

If you dont think it will cut it, then think of something better instead.

Wow Cag. How in the world did you accomplish that???? You must be deep into programming (I'm clueless when it comes to that). That looks fantastic. The standard tracer shape was way, way too long. One of the things that I remembered that always bothered me about USNF/ATF/FA was that these sims did not have a decent tracer shape (and the bullet shape was always way too big and fat).

I'd love to have the modified tracer to use for playing some of my old libs. If it would be okay, I can't tell you how much I'd appreciate that. The coolest thing I like about FA is using the cannon in a dogfight and strafing. I could play that sim for hours just loading up a map filled with ground objects to blast away with the cannon. You can't beat that. A realistic tracer like your's would be a night and day difference.

If it's okay to drop me one in e-mail, I'm at:

thunderchief@fastmail.fm

Thanks (it's nice to see that programmers are finaly getting into modifying further elements of this calssic sim).

Chris

I will send you the new shape over the course of the week...

BTW you should probably go back a few pages and take a look at some of the new shapes I have created for FAF and come over to my board at VNFAWING for FAF and FA-2 development....

Please feel free to join...

I think you will be amazed at what we are doing there...

Thanks a lot Cag. I could not imagine using those horrible tracer/bullet shapes any longer. I used to play missions where the enemy ground fire was firing at you using the tracer shape. It was like long, ugly orange and yellow lines coming at you. Looked awful. And like I said, the fat bullet shape was even more awful.

After FA, I had high hopes for USAF, Falcon and Strike Fighters. I would say Falcon is okay (I like the vulcan cannon tracer in it especially), but USAF and Strike Fighters were pretty bad sims. The Janes USNF'97 line of sims were totally fun, but they needed major work on the graphics. Back in the Pmok and Vark days, no one ever worked on graphics like your design team is doing.

I think you should really start posting your FA work on all of the flight sim sites and message boards, because everyone should know about the Future series. I think even some of the hard core simmers would love it (just my humble opinion).

Thanks again,

Chris
P.S. Hey, by the way, just curious if you had considered making the famous F-105 Two-Seater "Wild Weasel" (sam killers).
