Post subject: | In-Flight Refueling Issue |
<S> All, Somewhen a long time ago I seem to recall I flew a mission where when you hit a certain waypoint it refueled you automatically. I believe there was an additional "w_" line in the waypoint sets in the .m file. If this rings a bell with anyone pls reply - as you all well know, the lack of In-Flite refueling is probably the biggest drawback to FA. If we can find a way to solve the issue it will make FAF and FA-2 even better. This obviously ties in to the pre-landing fuel dump issue for those aircraft that require a lower landing weight. If you could dump all excess fuel except for that required for landing when you hit your next to last waypoint, it would negate the need to fly around in circles above the airfield burning your excess fuel off. Any and all ideas here are most welcome. Please reply here or to my post on the Beta Testers Forum at VNFAWING. Thanks, Hams |

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I remember a mission from long ago where when you got at a specific waypoint for refueling behind a KC-135 (or similar), for refueling, you "had" to perform a cheat; that is: activate your cheats, and ckeck "unlimited fuel", go back to flying, then right away, access your cheats again and remove the "unlimited fuel". That resulted in filled-up fuel tanks. An effective, but very crude, way of refueling in FA. Hum, I wonder; if you had auxilliary fuel tanks, did they got filled-up too? I can't check myself; my computer is down, monitor let go a few days ago. Well, a good reason to update to a 17-inch monitor from a 15-inch! I remember that mission, too, but there must be a non-cheat way, because if I remember correctly if you simply write a "W_something" line into a waypoint FA will crash, but if you write "W_refuel" it doesnt or it gives a different error message. Its just that apparently nobody knows how to use this command correctly. |

Unfortunately, so much has been lost from FA throughout the course of time. What we needed from the very start was a database that could hold and store all creations and so on and so fourth. I guess Janes never gave that much of a thought. It would have prob. prolonged their game life and shelf-life and in addition, they could have charged a little fee too . |

You might want to check out this string... I found some interesting information when testing the w_goal command in waypoints... http://www.vnfawing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=319 CAG out... |

Correct me if I am wrong but I think I may have cracked the issue: In the FA toolkit, you can select an option that says object is an airport... Maybe we can utilize that somehow to make planes land on other planes??? Then refuel?? I hope this works... I love poking around the toolkit |

Ok, this was tried, oh, about 7 years ago. Come on now we are alot farther along then this... deep into code and dll edits... The tk isnt used for anything other then building libs nowadays, its to limited and out of date to gain access to the really important data... CAG out... |

you can use the "W fuel" command to START a mission with a certain percentage of fuel, but changing the plane in the "Change Planes" screen puts it back to a full fuel load. |

Yes it overwrites the mission code for that object, does the same thing for the hardpoint commands... CAG out... |
