Post subject: | Toolkit Help |
Hi All, I'm having trouble getting the TK to retrieve original records. It tells me "UNABLE TO FETCH/DECODE xxx record". I can load custom work okay. This is the first I've fired the TK up after having my original primary drive fry. The TK program is on a secondary drive which was never altered since it last worked okay. So far as I knew, I only needed to restore the .INI file to the windows/system dir. Can anyone tell me what I missed? Oh yeah, the new drive now runs windows ME instead of '98 if that might have anything to do with it. Thanks, Bob |

You probably have to rebuild the CD ROM cache. |

Thanks for responding - Rebuilding the cache didn't clear it up. Well, if anyone knows offhand what the TK is looking for, I'd appreciate it. I guess I may have to try installing another TK download into the new drive. Bob |

When you installed your TK did you use both the blue and red cds? |

The toolkit was looking for some DLLs that you normally get during installation. I just copied them from another TK download onto my main drive. The drive the TK is on is VERY old and withstood a major temp rise in the bay whereas the newer one melted. Western Digital - Boy, they really build those babies. Thanks for your assistance CAG! I had that error too. That's because my hard drive is partitioned. I have C and D. C is win98 and D xp NTFS. I copied the TK to D from C and got that error. So i manually copied and pasted that .dll for TK from C:/windows to D:/wndows. Then it workd. |

I tried rebuilding the Cache as well, but even that gave me "ERROR: Unable to fetch record" on some file named "&BUTTON2.11K" (or similar) among with a number of other files. Still can't edit the original files. |

As mentioned above you are missing the necessary DLL files... BTW this is an OLD string! You must have dug deep to find it... Man I miss hearing from Tank! |

Excellent! Now all I need to know is what the DLL files are, where I can get them and where I need to place them |

Oh well... At least I can still use the toolkit to edit pilot data and Aircraft/Ordnance inventories for campaigns. (meaning I can play the Kuriles campaign on FAF after I've changed the RC-135's to AV-8B's ) |
