Post subject:  Kaptor Leaving FAF
Hey folks just wanted to inform everyone that I am leaving CAGs FAF project and taking my Flight Model work with me. I have informed him that he should not use my work in FAF and that if he uses them in any commercial work down the line that I will inform his publishers that that work belongs to me. His warped sense of ownership is just too much to bear. Apparently if you have ever figured anything out in FA and then joined the FAF forum he now considers your work to be his! He has claimed ownership of the RADAR developements that I made in the TK and posted here nearly two years ago LONG before I joined his forum even though I have done NO radar work in FAF! What started out as helping to achieve a greater level of authenticity in FA has ( in his mind ) turned me into an employee of his. Those of you who have been around for a while know that I am no hothead and am easy to get along with. Those of you working with FAF should take notice.

I wont be leaving the FA community, I love this game too much for that :-)

Actually this is not correct. I said that all development taking place on or with the resouces provided by VNFAWING.com was owned by VNFAWING.com. Its part of the registration agreement on the forums, website, and egroup...

However this doesnt mean that I own it. ALL partners in VNFAWING own the developments there evenly...

This is standard for any development company that involves profit sharing amongst its partners.

However all the work you submitted to date has been FAF/FA oriented and has not yet involved the commercial product FA-2...

Besides, when FAF is complete its all going open source anyway...

I also never meant you didnt own your own work...

well folks after a lot of talking explaining and cooling off, I'm rejoining FAF developement. When CAG lumped my public RADAR work in with my FAF flight model work in a PM I just kind of popped my cork a little. Some heated words were exchanged and blah blah blah. I've never been sure why this kind of thing seems to happen so much more easily on the internet than it does in real life but it really does. CAG and I usually work very well together but every once in a while it's the old "fire and water" thing. Some steam has been let off and things are ok again. This is very bad news for the other flight simms out there as I dont expect them to survive the eventual release of FA-2 :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
