Just curious if there's a quick fix out there. I've run the router patch. I'm behind a Linksys Wireless-G Cable Gateway. I try it with the firewall off, & 1790 open for FA. I'm on XP-Pro. There's no windows firewall on or antivirus firewall either. I can't host or connect directly to another IP.

Any help appreciated.

Most likely your IP has changed. You have to rerun the router patch each time your IP changes. Otherwise you broadcast your old IP and you will not be able to connect...

Thanks but that's not it. I just recently installed the game fresh, & ran the router patch with current WAN IP.

OOPS!!!!!!!!!! I almost overlooked it!

You need to open PORT 1791 NOT 1790!!

And you should set it for both protocals

My apologies as well, it's a typo, I have 1791 open.

Damn! Ok what internal IP are you mapping that port to? Are you sure you are mapping it to the right internal IP and what protocal?

The internal IP is 192.168.0.11 which is what the router is set to. It's set to "both" which is TCP & UDP. There is a box you have to check to "enable" it and it's checked.

The only thing I'm not 100% on is on the same line there's a box for "Application". I have FA there. It's not like you can browse to the application. Nor can you type the full path of the executable file which is C:/Janes/Fighters Anthology/FA.exe.

So what do you have as your "application" box?

Nope the application box is just for referrence on that page so you remember what game uses that port...

If you are ABSOLUTELY certain you have correctly run the router patcher for your public IP AND you are absolutely certain you are mapping to the correct private IP for port 1791, then you are having an issue that is non related to you router or the patcher...

Do you have a soft firewall running on your PC?

Also what service patch are you on XP Pro? SP1, SP2, or SP3?

I'm on XP-Pro SP-3. There's no soft firewalls running. I use Threatfire but I've tried with it being "suspended" or stopped basically. Windows firewall is never on. So I dunno. I've only got to try with one person in the HL and was trying different ways of connecting. I'd like to think that he has some kind of issue but he plays on a regular basis with others in the HL. So it must not be his end.

You definately need to test direct connections with other online pilots...

Was he hosting or were you? If he is on a router and doesnt either have the patch installed and/or updated, then he will not be able to connect to you. But if he is the client he can connect unless he has the patch installed with the wrong public IP...

If I knew what was blocking me before I'd tell. Someone different was in HL and it worked. I dunno. The first person I tried with flys regularly in the HL and has no issues. I tried with him the first time for about 2.5 hours trying different things and nadda.
