Post subject:  LIB Causing crash after build

ok first of all i have been dealing with this problem for years. Everytime i build a new lib it certainly causes crashes but i always fix it by deleting an ordanance/aircraft/vehicle that is causing the problem. but i have never figured out how to track the problem. i would just delete every recent object until game doesn't crash anymore. does anyone know how to figure out the source? i have been working on a ww2 lib for a long time now and i have had it with crashes every time i add a new unit. am i not doing something right?

for example i imported a sound file and added it to several ordinances, but now ever since game crashes. this doesn't not get fixed by removing the sound file, i think i have to remove every single weapon i added the sound file to!!! plz help

yeap running xp. the problem was solved by rebuilding the lib again tho. anyway i added another unit and same crap happened.

btw cag what software do you use for modeling? i need to remove the radar antenna on a e-2c

HOLY LONG PT FILES :shock:

If by deleting, you mean you are loosing your work, definitely don't do that. Create a second project and move the offending file to that project. Delete it from the first. Build and install both lib files. This is crude but it works. Just have two projects, and transfer problematic files back and forth.

There is most likely nothing wrong with the file you listed. XP has problems handling the FA data libraries and there is a top end limit to the number of PTs and NTs you can have in each library. Otherwise you exceed the stack limits and get a CTD. How many items do you have in the lib and what amounts of each type? ...

You are kidding, right? :lol:

I dont use any 'tool' for modelling. I edit the shape in the native format via hex editing each individual polygon manually. Hexadecimal editing, bit by bit...

Then I edit the visibility angles of each polygon manually and then I remap the skin layout manually as well...

There is no tool in existence for editing the polygon layout of shapes in FA...

Thanks zephyr, that helped a lot. and cag yes it is windows xp messing it up. im forced to use vista again :evil:

oh crap i really thought there was, having worked with other games i thought maybe 3d max or something. i cant really bellieve you have to use bit by bit modification!!! so do you have to preview your object like 100 times in FA? btw march is coming,,, is FAF?

Yes I have to view them many dozens of times to get it right, for each shape....

I usually preview them in the Shape color editor, as it is faster then trying to start the sim over and over...

IM still having this issue even when working under vista. Im trying to add a plane by modifying the skyraider. Basically i just change the name, texture, weight, thrust, maximum speeds and armaments. The game crashes on start. I tried moving into different libs. no point game still crashes. For some reason i can't add anymore aircrafts. Funny how it starts all of a sudden, didn't experience this problem when building 30 other aircrafts.

this also happens when i give guns more than 4 rounds per 1/4 of second fire rate.

Cant help you with Vista...

You might try adding the amraam into every lib, as well as one of the choose screens. That works in XP...
