Hello everybody. I recently got ahold of Centurian's WW3 campaigns. I was quite impressed with what I had read about it and gave it a go..............well, unfortunately, I soon ran into a seemingly unfixable problem; a 'fatal error' message.

First, I made sure I had put everything in the FA directory I wanted{I had multiple copies, so I could play with multiple custom LIBs and stuff}. That didn't seem to be the problem.

I then checked to make sure I had installed all of the necessary LIBs{As. Bs were multiplayer, and weren't required as far as I know}. That wasn't the problem, either.

I eventually installed Game Remod 7.04 just to make sure that I hadn't missed an important step...............again, nothing changed.

And finally, I upgraded the FA executable with the 1.02 patch hoping that maybe THAT would fix it. Sadly, to no avail.

I am now truly lost as how to fix this problem. If anybody, whether Centurian himself, or whomever, can assist me, I would greatly appreciate it ;-).

{Please let me know if you need additional info on the problem , and I will do my best to gather it}

You can only install one WWIII module at a time, meaning you can have only one "A" lib in the FA directory. The corresponding "B" lib is technically optional, and is the campaign itself (flyable through the campaign menu). You can also play using the M and MT files (intended for multiplayer, they show up in the single mission menu).

What operating system are you using? And you should definitely have the 1.02 patch installed for any lib. Isn't the game unplayable without it? Do you have the No-CD patch installed?

Hello, and thanks for the reply.

1. I was running this on Win 95 on Microsoft's Virtual PC{the '07 edition}.{Vista is my regular system, but none of my FAs have been installed outside the Virtual PC}

2. I had all 7 libs installed at the time{Just As though}

3. I didn't install the No-CD patch. Is this an important part? I assumed you could do it without it{I did read the supplied manual.}

You can only have one "A" lib file installed at a time. You have to exit the game and change files to switch between modules.

Ok thanks.

I am now able to run WW3 modules 1 and 2{without the NO-CD or 1.02 patches, and separately of course ;-)}, but I did have a little trouble with the 'Cuban Response' Campaign.{Yes, it was installed as is, without any other of the LIBs in the directory.}

Any ideas?

What type of error/crash occurs? Do you have both the Cuban Response campaign "B" lib installed, and the stand alone missions? If playing the campaign, you might try not installing the M and MT files. Also, you could try installing the 1.02 patch. I don't think I've ever found a situation where it hurt compatibility with a lib. And lastly, you could try installing the No-CD patch. I believe that helps in certain situations. I have a computer/OS configuration which doesn't work with the No-CD patch; in short, every FA install config has potential to work or not work.

I actually tried the 1.02 patch not that long ago.........and yes, I had everything in there, lock, stock, and barrel.

BTW, the errors I remember getting were something along the lines of 'Can't Load PAC3.NT' and 'Can't load ABC.NT'.

I'll try the No-CD patch ASAP.

Those are mission errors where an item specified in the mission is not available in the game...

This can occurr from 2 problems...

1. a missing lib file that contains those items

2. insufficient available memory in the system to allow all items in the libs to be loaded...

There are a few ways you can fix the missing object errors, assuming it is not a memory issue:

Import the lib into the toolkit and add an object with the requested name.

Or, the easier way, is to open up the the crashing mission's .M file with a text editor and change the missing object name to something similar which actually exists in the lib. This method will work with the stand alone mission sets.

Example:

The mission calls for pac3.nt, which doesn't exist. Assuming this is a PAC-3 Patriot SAM, you could change the .M file to call for hawk.nt, another SAM system.

To fix the missions in the campaign lib would require using the toolkit.
