I am having a problem with vehicles "floating" above the ground when decending down hill in a group...

They seem to hover above the ground at their original elevation...

Is there anyway to keep them "on the ground" when they are moving like this?

I cant stand seeing tanks in the air!

I think your only option is to make the vehicles not part of a group. The exhibit the floating behavior only when in a group, I believe.

Thanks Zephyr I thought that might be happening...

I might look into solving that issue in the future after release. Until then my custom missions on uneven ground will be without vehicle groups...

My problem was having them get stuck in a vertical position for whatever reason, never found a cure.

I sort of remember Cent working on this a while back. Perhaps he could have some input now that he is back on the forums?

Treasure chest hunting again.

I had this problem in my Rolling Thunder campaign with the two HCM Trail missions. The easy fix is to first plan out the groups like you normally would. Then open the mission file (i.e M01.txt), scroll down to your objects (Truck.NT), and remove the two lines annotating that object as part of the group (group 0 2 ; wng 1 0 256 0).

The beautiful part of this is the object will retain the waypoints.

Thank you I will give that a try... :)

The problem with a zip file is you never know whats really in it until you download it, thus my security settings wont allow it. What format is it in?

Hey CAG,

Try this out. I loaded Cent's tips into .htm on my webpage. I haven't published the link other than here (so far anyway).

Remember, if you receive a 'Forbidden' error, just keep hitting 'Refresh', leave and come back, or try again at a later time.

I get his page but I get this error when trying the links...

I too get the Forbidden error often. I'll hit Refresh a bunch of times; if that doesn't work, I'll wait a few minutes and try again.

My theory is Frontier (internet provider) did not intend people to receive the traffic that I do on the personal account. So, perhaps there is a limit on the amount of visitors at one time.

I soft of solved the issue for ground vehicles going up and down hills in a group but staying in the air on the way down, but it only works during daylight. I made the shape invisible and added a shadow shape from the original vehicle shape and used to represent the tanks and the shadow shape always stays at ground level no matter how high the ground goes so as you cross the mountain or hill the tanks come back down... Has limitations though, does not work at night and if the tanks fire they still fire from to high up in the air where they would have been floating from so its just a partial fast fix. Probably would have to dig into the game code to fix it correctly. Wish I could get my hands on it uncompiled!
