Hello, everyone Glad to see you, I am a new guy at Zephyr forums, but I am an old fan of FA for a long time. I have played FA for ten years, and still like it very much. Here is my recent work, JSF F-35A. It is worth noting I modified Y141.sh into a new F35A.sh. This Lib only includes a new 'modified' F35A.sh, other files are old, come from Y141. You can try it on your FA. There are some screenshots as follows, wish you like it. I made it by my own 'shape editing package', I will post it ASAP. With this package, this F35A.sh is modified well in a half hour. Wish this tool can make your dream come true. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A comparison between real F-35 and this work, it can be said similar, but a lot places still can be imporved. ![]() there is a little modified main wing version ![]() CTD problem already fixed, JSF F-35 Lib can be downloaded here. http://sourceforge.net/projects/fash/fi ... B/download |

Looks good... Might I ask how you made it? Or is this the person that has been emailing me, in which case I know how you made this... I see from flying the shape you have not addressed the visibiity factor on altered polygons. Also there seems to be an error with the shape. I CTD every time I try to view the exterior after a few seconds when panning around the aircraft. |

It seems like the people who worked at Janes did not care about the F-35. Its orignial shape in FA is horrible. They spent more time working on the stupid X-planes that never made it into the military, ie X-29, and such. I applaud your efforts, hopefully between your skills and Cags skills it can be worked out. |

Nice work. I too experienced crashes to desktop; it seemed like it happened when viewing the underside of the shape. Quote: It seems like the people who worked at Janes did not care about the F-35. Its orignial shape in FA is horrible. The shape was modeled in the late 90's, it resembles an old Lockheed design from the pre-JSF times of the project (ASTOVL, JAST, etc.). |

hawke wrote: Hello, CAG What I did is just modify vertex points, thus I have no idea with your quetion..^^ Could you explain these issues for me, thus I can do it better, thank you. vertex points... that is the same termology used by guy emailing me, so you must be him... In FA polgygons are only visible at specific angles that are set in the shape, so when you change that polygon shape and alter its viewing angle it will dissappear when viewed outside that original angle, which is why your engine inlets dissappear when viewing the aircraft form the side and possibly why your shape CTDs when viewing your shape from below... As I said to you in response to your emails, if you want to learn how to fix that I can help you after I release FAF Futures in either late Jan or early Feb... Please be patient, you will be able to create very much more realeastic shapes if you do... I cant help you right now, I have to concentrate on getting FAF completed... |

Janes did do a lousy job on alot of things in this sim, but not being clairvoyant isnt their fault... |

Thank CAG reply, I do also get a lot of CTD from seeing this shape below. I didn't know any about visiable angles, might this is the CTD issue. |

It could be that, but more likely the shape is simply unstable from you re-editing process. At some point in the shape there is instability. The MIG29.SH and SU35B.SH files in default FA are the same, but not as pronouned as yours... It has happened to me before as well. Some polygons do not work well when re-shaped. |

The annoying CTD problem is solved. New JSF F-35 shape and lib can be downloaded here, http://sourceforge.net/projects/fash/fi ... B/download This F-35 shape has a new intake, which is similar to real F-35 There are some screenshoot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I can't put my finger on why, but it still looks like a Yak rather than the F-35. Color perhaps? Nice work though. ![]() ![]() |

Its because the F-35 is blended and this is still the boxy Yak 141... Still he did a great job on it and even more on coming up with a tool to partially edit shapes... |

CAG Hotshot wrote: Its because the F-35 is blended and this is still the boxy Yak 141... Naw, we're used to "boxy" in FA. Just played with this in Paint Shop and it's the color and the vert stab placement, they need to go forward. Wing cord is too deep on the Yak too. |

That's beacuse I only modify the Y141 shape, but not _Y141.PIC. Thus it is still look like Yak style. If any one can help to modify _F35A.PIC to more like real F-35A. That will be wonderful! (and F35.PT, too. This F-35 still carries AA-11..^_^) |

The intakes are to tall, they need to be reduced in height, the fuselage is to tall as well... And again there is no body blending... Still its a great job for a first time shape edit. I think its alot better then my U-2 that I did 7 years ago! ![]() |
