Here is a quick work of F-18E, which is made by Fashion 0.1b.
In order to avoid CTD, there are only minor modifications.

1. larger Leading Edge Root Extension
2. larger wing
3. rectangle intake

After 1 hour test, there is no CTD. Wish you like it

I am very happy to see the no CTD in your shape...

I will give it a test this afternoon...

BTW have you tested any of your shapes in multiplayer?

I thought you might like to see what I have been able to do with direct hex editing the default FA F-18C.SH file to come up with my own F/!-18E.

I finished this one in 2008. It has the new intakes as well, with reformed engine bays to better match the true Super Hornet, angling down behind the intakes and then back up to the afterburners, also has the larger Leading Edge Root Extensions, plus a new mapped skinset, improved canopy, improved wings (launch rails on the tips, widened and deepened wngs, and full trailing edge flaps, also widened the vortex off the wingtips so they would line up), improved landing gear, and a fully skinned nose. Plus has no transparent polygons where they shouldnt be any, they all have the correct visibility. The skin is 512 by 512 and all mirroring has been removed and individual panels used so the numbers and markings lineup correctly on all fuselage, wing, and tail panels (I removed the ingame insignia and tail art as they looked like crap anyway). I also widened the shadow to properly match the aircraft. The only thing I did not do was install the new hard points on the bottom of the wings. I completed that on the skin after I took those pics...

This shape took many days to complete, which hopefully will not be as much of a probem with your shape editing tool for future new shapes...

Tha last 5 pics show the Super Hornet landing on my Osan airbase with the new runway skin, with worn runways, landing skid marks, runway runoff markers, proper runway numbers for strip direction, new taxiways, proper dispersal area and hard stands, taxiway direction signs, and lighting effects...

All on the new FAF Korea winter terrain...

So now that you have joined the vnfawing group you have a real idea of the kind of work you have instore for you!

The modified airports with taxiways, overruns, etc. definitely add to immersion and are a big improvement over the spartan default FA air strips.

Thanks... I took feedback from the Beta I released a few years back and weathered and aged the strips, plus I made the overruns part of the actual runway shape instead of using a seperate shape...

I will post some pics of the taxiway signs as well...

I have to say, I wish I had access to a tool like Hawke developed 7 years ago, as all this work would have gone along much faster...!!

I have asked him to build a few shapes for me as well as look at the maps, etc...

He is definately helping s out big time! :D

What I can say is "Awesome" ! your F-18E is great!
I have to do more serious modification then can reach your level.
Your contribution is very worth!

I am working on reshape Su35B to Su series aircrafts, such as Su-27, Su-30 , Su-34 and T-50.
Hope they can increase the reality of Su-27 and Su-33 in FA.

PS. Why the cookpit is black of F18, it cannot transparent?

I have darkened all canopies on FAF aircraft. It gets rid of the cartoon looking pilot. We took a vote on this years ago and it was 90% for the darkened cockpit because if showed the full canopy instead of an invisible one...

Earlier I thought I discovered a way to have a dark transparency, taken from the microwave tower and the suspension bridge shadows which are part of the actual shape instead of a seperate file like aircraft shadows and are thus not tied to the ground, but so far I cant get it to work without it being on its own LOD of the shape and I have not figured out how to add additional lines of code to exisiting shape files...

If we ever crack how to do that we will have solved not only darken transparent canopies, but such things as drag chutes, external weapons, all moving ailerons. flaperlions and tailplane... Plus 3 dimensional landing gear...

BTW have you ever located the part of the shape where the landing gear is placed? I need to alter those polygons as well but seem to come up short on those.

So far I think its the 2nd LOD on the F-18C/D/E/F shapes, but not sure on other aircraft shapes...
