Since I only can find the side photos on web, this is only I can find the top-view of J-20.
Might be some help to J-20 reshape

It is a big ass plane to say the least! Looks like a flying barn door. I wonder if it has any stealth other than frontal with such a long fuselage...

Engines should be slightly farther apart. Vert stabs should be farther apart.

And I thought the F-22 was alittle big. Looks more like a stealthy equivalent to a MiG-31 rather then a fighter.

Yes i thought it resembed parts of the MiG-31 as well, though definately not completely...

I notice it doesnt seem to have thrust vectoring so if that is true its not designed for super maneuverability.

3 reasons.

1. The Chinese have no vetored thrust aircraft in their airforce. All the new jets they hahve are based on non vector engines.
2. If you notice the "turkey feathers" on the afterburner cans are saw tooth edged to avoid radar reflectivity, but if they were altered in direction or paddled they they would no longer be stealthy.
3. The Russian thrust vectoring engine doesnt have cans that look that way and have an extensive vector mechanism and I simply dont see it on this afterburner can...

If this plane has little stealth, no thrust vectoring, and is big, it should be easy to lock on to. :)

Pappy

I've been running that bottom photo through my graphics program looking for details, and had some worrying "what ifs".

First off they have kept the underside VERY clean, I'm rather impressed, and there is at least a small chance the bottom rear strakes are only for the prototype, but I'd doubt it. Those AB cans are either fake or show a lot of work on thier part to keep that whole area smooth and featureless.

Now those "what ifs".
WHAT IF this thing really turns out to be stealthy, and WHAT IF this thing isn't a fighter?
This thing is HUGE, I don't recall the Chinese having "heavy fighters" like the Soviet Fiddler, Flagon, and the Foxbat/hound duo.

So, what if this is a purpose built striker to counter our CBGs in the Taiwan straights? If they focused solely on Naval and AWACS RADAR freqs rather than everything in the U.S. inventory it would shorten development time and cost ( not that the Chinese have budget problems ).

Depends on the size of the bombays I would guess...

But I doubt they would need this thing for just the same reason it would work, they already have stealthy cruise missiles to take on the US Fleet which would be much more effective in means of results as well as cost, and they wouldnt need this to penetrate the Taiwanese airspace with stealth aircraft after a stealth missile strike takes out their active defenses...

In addition, I think they are more into dramatic press coverage then actual capabilites. If this bird really could do what they claim it will be able to do why would they be pouring so much money into their other aircraft production projects? One would think they would be scaling them back instead of expanding them, if for no other reason then to afford to build these birds in large enough numbers to make a difference...

Actually I think the true outcome of this aircraft will be an follow thru with the F-35 instead of scale back or cancellation and perhaps a second chance for the F-22 production to not be cancelled at it current production numbers.

Especially now that the Republicans have the control of the purse strings.

It would be nice too if this persuaded Congress towards opening the F-22 up for the export market. Though the only countries I could see realistically purchasing the Raptor are Japan and Israel. (Maybe South Korea too though I wouldn't be too sure with them procuring new F-15K and being open to the Silent Eagle.)
