I'm trying to simulate dust in an FA mission. Using fog reduces visibility too much, so I was wondering wether it was possible to use clouds and moving them to a lower level.

Does anyone know wether it is possible to change the cloud settings to make clouds start at 1000 or 2000 ft instead of 5000 ft? By playing around with the values in the mission file I've only been able to change the altitude of those patchy textured clouds but not the main cloud cover.

In a word, no... The solid overcast clouds are hard coded at that altitude. I have never found anywhere in the exe or in any game setting to alter their altitude.

Too bad.

Kaptor, if you mean the following page, the only thing you can change is those high level texture clouds. You can turn them into patches of snow on the ground. Funny, but not ver useful:

I guess you could possibly make small dust clouds by using the smoke shape and renaming it the same shape name as the textured cloud shape and lowering it to ground level...

That MIGHT work, but I dont know if it will CTD is you do so.

Wouldnt be alot of dust, but small pockets of it...

Thanks Tank.
BTW I found out last night that I have lost ALL of my sim editing info. Every last bit of it. It might still be on a dead hard drive that I will try to resurrect this weekend but it might be all gone, sucks.
