just wondering how you guys set PK for SAMs? do you just set the best case scenario numbers and add manuvering and ECM reductions or do you use some other method?

for example for the SA-3 these are the PK:
a 0.45 - 0.87
b 0.17 - 0.67
c 0.04 - 0.48
d 0.20 - 0.50
а) tactical fighter
b) helicopter
c) cruise missile
d) maneuvering target

i took the average of .87 and .45 (.66) as baseline (.87 seems too high and .45 too low), and took into account the Sa-3 resistance to ECM from operation allied force:

I generally follow your approach, but keep a few things in mind. AI aircraft don't use ECM, and player ECM seems to work relatively poorly. FA is also limited in that all ECM applies to all weapons evenly - in actuality an SA-6 may not be affected by an old AN/ALQ-101 jamming pod, but could be compromised by the latest AN/ALQ-131 with up to date threat libraries.

During Operation Allied Force, Serbian SA-3s shot down only an F-117, F-16, and maybe some UAVs and cruise missiles. I would say that the most potent modern SA-3 upgrades are optical or IR sight additions.

thanks yep FA doesn't seem too good where ECMs are concerned, not only doesn't use jammers it also only launches 3 chaffs/flares. But I have managed to make it relatively realistic, at least much better than stock, after several years of small modifications here and there. Also adding IR sensor to SAMs doesn't seem to let them detect stealth units and even if they did normal radar ordnance wouldn't be able to lock in FA due to lack of radar signature.

You have to remember that in FA the aircraft PT file also has an IR signature line. If you want stealth aircraft to be detectable by IR sensors and/or weapons you have to increase the IR signature...

Also much more editing has to be done on the SAM maneuverability settings to really get realistic evasion capability by both the aircraft and the missile itself...

My SA-2s and SA-6s are pretty good. You can defeat them with pure evasion if you see them coming. If you miss them coming in you are toast. And they are nearly impossible to beat within the optical guidance zone around the launchers.

My ECM is also effective, but mainly only in multiplayer. I had to tone it down for single play as it became to easy to defeat incoming missiles.
