I'm wondering if I should add music for the new =Survival= LIB... though I was planning to in the first place, however, if you guys don't fly with music on then there's no point of making the LIB unnecessarily large... -Speedy |

I fly with it on , but it's no big deal to me, I turn it off IF things are getting really hairy and I need to open some more resources to hear the RWR. I would be more interested in good music for the breifing and de-breifing screens, maybee something more sinister for the briefing and weapons screens, some thing with some dread in it |

Well, the reason I like to add new music is because music is actually a VERY important thing in games and such, it can change your mood, immerse you in the mission, make you feel like you're a real part of the campaign and whatever (If chosen well) so I think it's great to have. Though it adds to LIB size greatly, I think it's worth it. When you play games like Star Wars: Rogue Squadron or Ace Combat 4 or whatever, it really makes a difference without music. Maybe it's less realistic or something, but it's a lot more dramatic. Of course, something else to consider is that music can also not be "music" but could be a bunch of preset radio messages, or the sound of rain or howling wind... There are many possiblities! If anyone is interested, please post here or E-mail me at redbearfa@hotmail.com ... -Speedy |

music is good. When you have to fly 200 miles on an egress its worth it. after a while you simply forget that it's on.......or get to the point where you pay no attention to it. But it's still good to have, I always liked the music packages you made Red bear. Especially the Dreams one from Van Halen. |

Well, music like Dreams is kind of distracting, mostly because it has lyrics and is too loud. If you listen to some of the music from other good flight games or something they're only real loud and dramatic if you're in real danger, or someone has gone down "Behind Enemy Lines" or if you're in a dogfight... The menu music is also important, but a lot easier to choose than in-flight music... (Seriously, choosing the takeoff music is very difficult, it's got to be kind of fast-paced but also has to give you the feeling of... "importance") Obviously this is my own opinion, I just wanted to post it... -Speedy |

Well you can't find the default music names in the FATK, but you can find their names in the FATK. When you add a new .11k music file to the FATK, then you name it according to what the FA.exe file... XFI311AB, XFI307 come to mind, there are a lot of them. However, editing all of them will make your LIB size increase by like... 20 MB or something (The same goes to in-flight music) so I edited the .exe and .mus files so there'd only be an overall of about 8~10 songs max... -Speedy |

Is there a way to listen to the game music files within FATK Speedy? |

I am not sure if they are in the selections but if they are it's the same way as other sound files to preview and listen to them. |

Some music is in there, such as the music you hear when you start FA up, win/lose a campaign, go MIA, etc. Nixon's big long Vietnam speach is in there about cutting off communist supply lines...... |

Well, I do happen to have most of the Menu Music in .11k format, but the way I got it was importing the HUGE default FA LIBs (The ones that are several hundred MB) and then picking them out by adding their names to the item.dat... I haven't found the in-flight music yet, but it shouldn't be too hard, just VERY time consuming, as the LIBs are HUGE! -Speedy |
