The wing strakes are unimportant.

OK I will post a screenshot of the Vigilante later tonight and you can give me feedback on the shape and skin file...

Well that didnt work... Seems I still cant take screenshots in the shape color editor and the shape still isnt stable enough to fly. This is frustrating.

If you want, go ahead and send the shape/pics and I'll test it on my legacy machine. There is a slight chance the issues you are having are from a newer machine and/or operating system.

I'm still on Windows ME and Pentium III.

No... The problems were with the polygons in the shape and the skin file... both had unrecoverable issues (this happens often when creating new shapes and high quality skins). The shape had a twisted polygon that was to much of a mess to try to figure out so I am in the process of rebuilding the shape to avoid the issue and the skin file has a transparency failure issue and had to be abandoned as well... I will begin the new skin once I have completed the new shape... The following screenshots show the progress on the replacement shape that I am making changes step by step to, instead of in wholesale amounts so I can isolate exactly what the issue is if I run into it again. Please disregard the skin as its an old FAF MiG skin from the original shape and will be removed... Also the flaps have not yet been addressed. More work needs to be done on the wings and in "thinning" and "narrowing" the fuselage to make it a correct shape/size and the movement of the lower fuselage strakes forward to become the wing leading edge strakes, as well as the creation of the belly recon pod.

Looks great CAG. Hopefully someday we will see your latest version of FA Futures. I wish I could help, but I’m just a flyer that appreciates your work.

Welcome back, Afishfood.

I see it has been a few years since your last visit. There have been a few updates since then.

Check out Hawke's FASHion for new & altered aircraft shapes/pics at
https://sites.google.com/site/fashape/

You can also check out the many updates to aircraft, weapons, and Campaigns at
http://myplace.frontier.com/~usnraptor/
The best way to do so is to upload the latest version of the usnraptor playset to
your virgin Fighter's Anthology.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask. My e-mail is at the bottom of my website.

Doing final online testing tomorrow with Duke. We ran into some issues tonight that sidetracked our testing. We will give it another try tomorrow.

That FASHion tool is helpful but very limited. You can get better results with manual editing. I used it on the first failed shape of the Vigilante, which was why it ended up unstable. You cant do enhanced skins on it either... I can write a tutorial on manual editing if I can find the time.

Ok this shape is now stable in both single and multiplayer...

I'll finish the skinset and get it out to you Monday.

Sorry it took so long... End of year workload coupled with instability in the original shape gave me a month long headache.

Hey CAG,

Is that prototype ready for flight, or did Congress pull funding for the project?

I still haven't received it. I also have not been able to find it on your website as mentioned in the PM you sent

Quote:
I found the problem... I only have winrar and the email is being stripped by your email server due to an infected winrar... I have cleaned out my machine and am going to i stall winzip this weekend and upload it to vnfawing.com and send you a download link.

Lastly, are the red stars and letters going to be removed?

Thanks.

SO very sorry I am so late in responding to this. I have been buried in work and riding/working out all summer long and have not even looked at this forum... I am behind on everything, even the new machine for Duke to do FAF testing on and I had a HD crash from a nasty virus and initially lost everything. This is why whenever I uploaded anything to my website or attached it to an email it was killed outright and would not show up... But I do have some good news. I have been able to salvage many files as I rebuilt the drive data. This shape is one I have managed to piece back together. The skin file isn't though, but it was not that difficult for me to make. Its a US Navy skin file like on the A-4 so it wont be tough to redo... Do you still want it?
