Improved Version of the P-3C Orion...

Rounded and Vertically Shortened Tail and Rudder with Leading Edge of Vertical Tail lengthened, Horizontal stabilizers widened back just a bit... And MAD boom slightly less "Spiky"... Best I could do with the limited polygons on the tail boom BUT I might be able to adapt the now unused polygons from the removed radar dish and move it back to the tail for a more realistic MAD Boom. That will take more experimentation... Here is how she is right now:

LOL... Get those Persians!

If you wait a few days you will have the proper crash shapes and shadow shape to go with it...

Zero rush I started this during vacation and that ended so the pace is slower.
Working through a bunch of missile issues anyway, I made them too shitty inadvertantly.

You'll get that figured out...

Got a question. When looking at the real P-3 vs my version, do you think the fuselage is a little long forward past the props?

Did some more tests tonight and while it is possible to MAYBE create a better MAD Boom its likely to take quite a while to accomplish so I am going to table that for now and move forward on the crash shapes, then I will improve the old default P3C shape into proper EP-3 Aries I and Aries II shapes as well. And then fix their crash shapes where necessary...

Without this question in my head I wouldn't have ever noticed but that being said looking at it back and forth nothing screams out to me so - if it is - it's small & subtle and not really distinctly noticeable. If it is, I mean you made a P-3, where we didn't have it, whoever complains can go play Ace Combat or something.

I think the picture above looks deceiving because of the angles.

CAGs P-3 looks awesome. Energy spent trying to make it perfect would be better spent on other projects.

FYI: I was an Aviation Structural Mechanic (Structures) in an AIMD airframe shop. One of our squadrons was a P-3 squadron. Besides R&R a bunch of tires and painting wheels, I also often repaired the P-3's fiberglass Fuel Drain Mast on the belly. However, once I started repairing them (as opposed to others), the frequency of their returns to the shop dropped significantly.

Later, in college, I did an English report on it.

That is awesome! Thank you for all your efforts keeping out birds up to maximum efficiency with your hard work and dedication! And don't worry to much about time spent. I am working on a dozen projects right now and am jumping from one to another to keep getting bored on any of them. This work has helped me! :D

You did a great job on matching up these skins... These shapes are mostly finished. I just have to test for stability tomorrow and send them all to you along with the finished P-3C. I was thinking of adding some scorches and other damage to the skins to make them look a bit more haggard from the weapons impacts. That is no reflection on your work. You did a great job matching up my skins with the damaged skins... Its just that the original FA crash shapes don't show enough fire damage from the explosions that tear the wings and tails off... etc.

The P3C_C & P3_D shapes are unstable. I have tried to determine what makes the game crash as soon as it tries to display these shapes but have so far been unsuccessful. I am going to rebuild both shapes and see if that solves the issues. Also the same issues for the P4C_C& P4C_D shapes. I will hopefully solve these issues tomorrow. Its 3:25 AM now and I am sacking out...

Some good news to end on though, the P3_A & P3C_B along with the P4C_A & P4C_B shapes have been heavily edited and all display perfectly...

Solved the P3C_C shape issue. Whoever created these shapes to begin with should be prevented from reproducing... We dont need that person's genetics in the world gene pool... The skin files were all twisted and reversed on parts of the wing and fuselage and I had to redo the skin layout. Was successful and solved the CTD issue for this crash shape for both the P3C_C.SH and the P4C_C.SH... All that is left is modifying the shadow shape to match the aircraft. That will take a little bit of work mainly because I will have to remilitarize myself with editing it! Its been a while since I did those 1D shapes, but I will get it done...

Those are the shapes/textures for when the aircraft is destroyed.

For example the P3C_A.SH & P3C_B.SH are the two pieces of the aircraft after the tail has been shot off... The P3C_C.SH & P3C_D.SH are the two pieces of the aircraft when the starboard wing had been shot off...

Oh that's cool. So I guess then that's why if you just have a custom shape on the main texture F16.sh then it reverts to the old look when it gets destroyed.
I don't think I ever really understood shapes so there we go.

The crash shape selected in the game is determined by the shadow shape used for the object. For Example... If you flew an F-15 with an A-10 Shadow Shape then the crashed A-10 Crash Shapes would be displayed when the F-15 was destroyed...
