I have completed the shape and skin editing on this version of the MiG-19 / J-6...

This is the default FA version with the transparent canopy and it uses the default nationality roundels...

I will update it later when I have more time to work on improving the skin file and other details such as improved upper wings and a detailed tail skin.

Right now it uses the MiG-17 HUD which is an improved version for FAF in the pictures but will use the default MIG-17 HUD with no issues from FA.

You have no idea what a nightmare this little MiG was! I will never again edit a shape that can not be viewed in the shape color editor's final version. I had to make guesses on polygon reshaping for the 2 far distance levels of the shape without being able to view them except in the sim and that meant always at a distance. There were so many small errors... It took months to complete!

It's definitely come together very, VERY nicely.
Is there a "latest version" of FAF available for download at all?

This is sooo bonerific. Finally, a MiG-19 all its own. No more using the Q-5 nor a gray MiG-17 as a substitute.

The preview pics are really awesome. This is a great addition to Fighters Anthology!

Its being tested right now for issues. The crash shapes still need to be created.

They will come from the shape now under test so that testing must be completed first before it can be downloaded... Also it will have a matching shadow as well.

You personally know all the suffering I went thru to build this MiG-19... I am very glad you like it!

I have already identified 1 set of errors and corrected them... The inboard weapons pylon is the wrong size. It covers the landing gear door retraction so I shortened it to be more realistic... And I also reduced the sharpness of the points on all the pylons and reduced their height to also make them look more realistic...

I have been busy... Further improvements to the skin upper wing surfaces to tie the upper and lower wings together in detail quality and layout...

Next will be the tail and the rudder details and then the fuselage upper details...

Well Heck! I thought I did a pretty good job of improving the wing skins on the upper wing sections, but no one else seems to have an opinion!

I've done some more work on her... I was able to add the vertical tail skins and corrected the misalignment on the skin on the lower tail plane. I am keeping the skin layout the same for the tail as I did the wings for continuity. I am still doing a couple of tests through to before making this specific layout permanent.

Here are some pics of the tail skin... The new skin also works on the rudder when actuated as can be seen in the last 2 screenshots.

Next is skinning the upper fuselage to be as detailed as the lower fuselage. That is going to take some doing! There are a lot of polygons on the upper fuselage and sides that need to be done. The good thing is if I am successful I can add nose numbers and nationality insignia to the fuselage to better replicate the real skins this aircraft have had...
