I had FA working just fine, for years actually. havent uninstalled it or anything. Suddenly, revisiting the game and it crashes immediately when loading the loadout screen. straight to desktop. Can't figure out why? |

This typically happens with LIBs. There's some sort of limit whether it's size or items or what have you that causes instability. Have you tried "vanilla" FA? |

Loadout screen errors sound like you have an instability in one or more of the libraries or to many weapons from third party libraries installed or not have the proper weapon library installed that gives the weapon that aircraft is specified to carry which is what happens if you don't have all the necessary third party libraries installed to support that aircraft ... OR if you have not added any new weapons or items and it fails you might have a bad sector on your hard drive that FA is installed to and it cant read that weapon that is default loaded to your aircraft... |

Just so we are clear: 1. You uninstalled Fighters Anthology. 2. You reinstalled Fighters Anthology. 3. You Installed the Patch for FA. 4. You did NOT install any Libs or other extra files. 5. Everything seems fine until you get to the Weapons Loadout screen, in which case the game crashes to desktop. Is this correct? Have you played FA on this particular computer before? Is this Windows 10? |

all points exactly correct. Yes, windows 10. Yes played on this same computer before. (thats why it was installed already) I have two physical drives, removed the C drive install. reinstalled onto D drive, just in case bad sector/drive issue was culprit. |

Have you done the no-cd by any chance? |

I just tried the 1.02 No CD.....same thing. screen goes black for a second or two....then crash to desktop right before the loadout screen should have appeared. |

It might be a long shot but I'm running out of ideas. Do you have the complete fa4c and fa_7 LIBs too? If not you can download them here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/152cabP ... sp=sharing Typically, we don't see these crashes on a base game so it's definitely odd. This is how my directory looks |

He could try the .ISO and Virtual Drive method. The Fighters Anthology .ISO can be found at Archive.org. When using the .ISO, you do not need the No-CD lib. |

When using the .ISO, you do not need the No-CD lib. usnraptor brings up a point, maybe it's the no-cd? ISOs are on my own Google Drive too FYI in case anyone needs. We're definitely in abandonware territory I have to imagine. I use Daemon Tools Lite for a virtual drive but there's plenty out there. Could always try base game + 1.02 patch without no-cd? Sort of process of elimination methods. Stinks you're having these issues because I have to say I've found FA more stable on W10 than it was on W98 once upon a time and I had never been able to play it on W7. Alternatively if you keep having these issues there is another option. You could get Virtual Machine Player and install Windows XP to a VM shell. I use this to access the FATK since it doesn't work in W10. |

I have no issue running the No-CD version of the FA exe in Win 10 on 4 different systems ... What build version of win10 does he have? |

I was also suspecting a conflict with the computer using the CD-ROM and/or CD-ROM Drive. Maybe the computer system doesn't like CD-ROM games anymore. Maybe his copy of FA is decaying, or has a bad spot. Switching to ISO would at least eliminate those two possibilities, as well as the possibility that he has a corrupted No-CD lib. |
