I don't think it's possible because there is no laser window. There is RADAR, IR, and HARM but no LASER. It would be cool because then the A-10 would be awesome and I could take out the IR because it has the Pave Penny. |

Damn man! Hit M once in a while. LOL okay HARM basically picks up only those things emitting radar signals. It can pick up fighters but it is better suited against ground objects. It's a great way to hunt. And if you have a permenent HARM sensor then you can lock onto them and drop LGBs and shoot Mavericks at them without turning on your radar or IR. It's great. Perfect for shooting off AGM-88s... |

Ok, well mot missions i like to fly involve dumb bombs and UR misslies with usualy no radar or IR, it harder that way. |

Try the HTS pod in FA Futures... Then try the AGM-88 DAM and LAM versions in Futures... You should really enjoy that... Also ther is no "Laser window" in real life or FA... A laser range finder simply bounces a laser beam off a target to get the range for firing the cannon to allow the cannon to be raised to the proper elevation. IIt is invisible to the naked eye and on the A-10 Warthog, the pave penny pod simply receives reflected laser energy to allow the A-10 to use laser targetting weapons, but he A-10 can not self illuminate unless it is carrying a targeting pod like the lantirn, which was just recently added and used in Iraqi Freedom for full night fighting capability. The 'live' targeting window in the A-10 cockpit in a real warthog is tied to the IIR(imaging Infra Red) seeker in its Maverick missiles... It has no onboard IIR systems other then that again unless it is carrying the IR lantirn pod... |

Cag, is it carrying both Lantrin pods now or just one of them. Shoot can't believe I didn't think about this ya know because I have seen and heard about it but it never really clicked in my head until just now. *Me dumbass* |

only the IR version. My hawgs dont cary any sensors at all except LASER dez becasue we cant build IR and LASER into one pod in FA plus the hardpoint limit of 6 so you COULD self laz for a LGB but you would have to get a viz lock first unless you brought a pod along with you from the weps screen. This allows the simulation of being lased by another aircraft or ground personel. |

Okay so they only have the IR version of it but that also has the laser designator right? |

yup IIRC LASER, FLIR, and TV (maybe no TV till the last upgrade, and only a med to low altitude LASER till the last upgrade) |

So which hardpoint does it carry it on or does it carry it on a different place? |

IIRC it can now also carry that all in one pod the USAF is now using.. cant remember the exact name of it? Sharpshooter Pod or something? |

LITENING II, and Sniper is the one still in the pipeline. Pylon 9 just outside the right wheel pod where the Mavs would go is where they have been carrying it Cent. |

Excellent info Kap! (As usual!) BTW I do truly love the improvments offered by your Comanche! I did some slight improvements to the FM to decrease the RCS to what is publically listed, it seems to improve its capabilities to exist in a high threat environment, until it fires! Then every damn SAM is trying to blast the hell out of it! Any ideas on increasing the limitations of SAM guidance radars to incorporate the some of the limitations of the airborne radars? Kap you gotta come onboard for FA-2 development! You are just to talented to allow other people to do this type of work! CAG out... |
