does anyone have a reason or cure for the shaking that the F-117 goes through when it gets over that magic 260kt mark? I know it doesnt have flaps, and am wondering if does "have them" but unseen and un retractable and thus the shaking, just like when you leave the flaps or brake on in other aircraft.

Turn on No Screen Shaking. The F-117 is a very shaky aircraft in real life. Wobblin Gobblin.

actually the F-117 is quite stable , it was the protos that were a handfull till the FCS code got worked out. But I dont think that's what's goin on in the FA shaking prob, just TOO co-incidentle with that flap/brake turbulence 260kt speed thing.

Though the computers make it stable in flight and possible to fly it is very wobbly if they are the slightest bit out of tune. LOL it's the perfect way not to design an airplane yet it works so well...

I think your confused with the B-2 Spirit and how its nicknamed the "Hoblin Goblin". lol all this talk reminds me of "The Madula Oblin Gota" - Waterboy.

no, the F-117 had the nickname "wobblin gobblin" but I believe that was bestowed upon the XST Have Blue tech demo.

It must have something to do with the FM and the turnbulence settings.

Have you tried editing the FM yet?

yeah turb zero, flap drag zero, doesnt help. I KNOW it has to do with NO FLAPS in that PT it's the only one (as far as I know, even the helos have flaps) without flaps and the 260kt thing is just TOO co-incidental

I've never heard of the B-2 having any stability problems. Pilots compare it to a 737 usually.

Ok the B-2 predacesor the XB-35 was also a flying wing and was unstable due to the lack of a tail rudder, but it was remedied due to the way the prop engine housing made small rudder like humps.
Image
look at the engine housing in the back.

When the jet engines were installed it was found too dificult to control the XB-49 due to the loss of the "tail" element. So 4 small tail units were installed o compasate for the loss, as seen blow. A XB-49 aircraft crashed in 1948 due to such problems at the Edward airforce base. Edwards base was named after Capt. Glen Edwards who died in the crash.

Now the B-2 infact has the same problems and in someceases is worse, the only way it says in the air is with computer assisted flight, if the computers were to be damaged it would crash, it is said that it could not be flown without them. The B-2 is too unstable to be flown by the pilot alone.

some one above mentioned the B-2 being stable.IT is but only with computer assistance. This also relates to the f-117 and the X-29, he could no fly without computer assistance, the desgins are too unstable, for unassisted flight.

Actually the string was initially about why the F-117 in FA wasnt stable... and how we can fix it... yet it seems to have morphed into something that has no worth to the original subject...

Yep but so do many topics, it stated with FA then moved into the actual aircraft being unstable.
