Win98 August 12 2003 at 8:19 AM lisa (no login) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recently found a copy of the old dos janes atf game. From 1996. I am having problems installing it on a pentium 3 computer with win98. Not sure I have followed the instructions for installion, but have had no luck. I get the screen to install but it is not the one described in the manual. Seems to install but game does nt run. I am not sure If I am missing a driver or something. I realize this game is from 96 and I am trying to run it on a newer computer so I am thinking that I am missing something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

What you really want for either USNF or ATF, is the "Gold" version patch (may be v1.14 ?? from memory) I.E. ATF Gold patch These where copies they sold most recently and are Win 95 compatible. But the patch for these versions will update any version of ATF or USNF respectively. With Win98 you're in relatively good shape for a DOS game as you still have config.sys and autoexec.bat. If it doesn't work in the MS-DOS prompt you can try restarting in MS-DOS mode, or editing the shortcut for the program to restart with custom config.sys and autoexec.bat settings. Right click on the shortcut and there are tabs and settings to configure. Basically you want it to make it restart in MS-DOS mode and theres boxes to chekc to use your config.sys and autoexec.bat. IIRC Windows kind of has some check boxes to make this easier but it can be confusing if you've never used DOS. Ahhhh the good old days. Zephyr |

I have an old ATF Dos version that I was never able to make run... I still have the original CD, but it was totally incompatible with my 98 dev system... I have still never seen this game run... |

Small fix to the way a host connects. A bug in the latest versions of Win95 causes a Host not to find a Joiner if the Host is the last one in the game. |
