I finally got the game to run. Now I have no sound. When the game loads it tells me that the pci audio drive not loaded. Needs emm86. Not sure about that emm86. I have tried several changes in the msconfig properties. In the advanced tab setting I have set it to Set Blaster =A220 17 D1 H7 P330 T6 and several other variations . How do I find out what this setting should be. I did go to the device manager and check the settings there and in the game i played with the sound config.

I am sure that it is the configuration for the sound card that is just not correct. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Try P220 instead of 330.

What type of sound card do you have? Glad you got the game to run, you're ahead of me. I'm still trying to just make a bootdisk to run ATF /w NATO Fighters /w Varklib 1.5.

It sounds like he has an old confliuct going on there related to port use in DOS... WIndows allows multiple resources to share ports, but DOS doesnt... You need to be certain the settings you ahve jumpered for your sound card are the same ones you have designated in the config.sys and autoexec.bat...

remember with dos only there is no plug and play driver installations...

I got ATF /w NATO /w Vark 1.5F working with a dos boot disk. My sound card Autoexec.bat line is:

SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4

These are the default numbers and should work with old sound cards (Soundblaster 16 and earlier) unless you have physically moved jumpers. With newer cards it should be able to emulate with these values.

Continue your DOS experiments.
OR .......
Check out this string it might help.

Or as stated before you can get the ATF Gold patch here also.
I have tossed out my old ATF CD, but the 1.14 version USNF is the WIN 95' compatible version, and should be same for ATF but I personally can't test it.

from ATF GOLD PATCH read me .........

III. CHANGES AND ADDITIONS

*** PATCH 2 ***

This latest patch primarily addresses compatability problems
with Windows 98

- Multiple fixes for DDRAW problems for Diamond and
Matrox drivers that have problems switching from 16 or
24bit into 8 bit graphics mode.

- Win98 fix for mouse (on a multi-monitor system you could
move the mouse off the game screen easily .. causing the
game to minimize).

- Win98 exception handler fix (Win98 deals with processor
overflows and underflows differently causing the game to
occasionally crash).

- Fix for OSR2 and OSR2.1 versions of Win95. Small fix to
the way a host connects. A bug in the latest versions of
Win95 causes a Host not to find a Joiner if the Host is
the last one in the game.

I have ATF /w NATO running and you're not missing much as FA has it all covered with better shapes, etc. I mainly installed it to fly Varklib 1.5 again, it's a really interesting version in that lib series as Vark kind of threw out some realism but kept some other realism, in a hard to explain way.

Excellent! Are there any bridges, buildings, vehicles that are in those libs that are not in FA? How do those libs model knocked out SAM sites? What about explosion effects?

I am looking for anything in these libs that is not in FA, anything...
