These PICs are poor but small and load quickly, the A-7 in particular looks MUCH better in the game than in the pic

unfortunately the A-7 is only skin deep as it is one of those "bad" Sh. files (1.75GB on this one lol )

!!! not too bad for that old cludgy desert F-4 skin!!! a resonably accurate F-4 camo pattern, notice the "steel" effect on the tailplanes

UK F-4K FG Mk.1 Notice the Spey steel nozzles, this plane has the extended nose strut and is hilarious to watch land and park on a carrier under AI control lol

the new SU-27SM from CAGs gray SU-35 SH. the real aircraft wont have the canards but WILL have TV nozzles, it will basically be a single seat version of the muti-mission SU-30MK

havent DL'd Futures yet, I have dial up and since there are ALWAYS bugs in a major release (see my laser radar post in a few minits lol) I wanted to wait a while.

you guys GOT to see how my Osprey rotors turned out they are umm ROXXOR LOL (sorry Cent) actually look VERY much like they are spinning. Generally speaking the 3 blade 2 pic rotors are so-so at best, but the others look pretty good I have to say. I may do MUCH more work on these, thinking of adding more "rotors" to each pic and see how that goes.

But can you make them look 'contra rotating'?

no contra rotating for Osprey, the PIC uses 3 rotors and applies all of them to each motor.

The Hokum PIC uses 3 rotors too, but since it's a stacked rotor design it might be doable.

the Chinook PIC has 2 rotors for each pylon so it can be done too.

Kap, I have just finished altering all the upgraded blades of my helos lastnight to make them more realeastic. I will have em posted for download by no later then Friday evening. I would really appreciate you taking a look at them and offering suggestions of how to improve them, becasue basically they are just individual blades in multiple positions, and they have no 'blur' effect to simulate the spin effects, I am relying on the spin effect to be simulated by the multiple positions of the seperate blades. Plus I changed how I have modelled the individual blades to better simulate how they are attached to the hubs. The new blades incorporate a more realeatic comppnent for this. Unfortunatly they are all so small there just isnt alot that can be done with them to detail them further.

However I would really appreciate a review, if you dont mind downloading them this friday? Thanks...

CAG out...

dont mind at all , if I can find the download lol.

ok the chinooks wont do contra-rotating either. Even though there are 4 rotor pics they use all 4 on each pylon apparently.

adding more blades to a normal rotor pic for me tended to look more like a flying quisenart than helo blades so I stopped that effort pretty quick. Cag it sounds like you are painting in solid blades in place of the "fuzzy" default blades, sounds interesting (and YES there are preciouse few pixels to work with there) I may give it a try. Mine is somewhat similar but I dont use a solid outline of a blade, but rather "suggest" that your seeing a blade whizzing around.

ok, was playing with this "individual blade" thing tonight and I'm afraid this is going to be one of those "so close and yet so far" things. The EFFECT looks kinda cool, but you have such a small area to work in you cant do much shading and it just looks kinda cartoony or something. And when you do blades at something besides a perfect cross shape + for instance an X you lose a great deal of quality. I'm gonna try coloring each seperate pic rotor a different color and see if that helps.

Interesting, I have not thought about shading... but the individual blades show up well as spinning when in the target box, especially when I altered the blades to better represent the attachment position arm to the hub...

Download Futures tomorrow and take a look at the AH1s and the UH-60, also check out the Mi8 and Mi24.

They seem to be the best ones for the 'effect'...
