With all the talk of hacking FA.exe and redefining the game, I was wondering if anyone had thought about altering the time/weather situation so weather is no longer dependent upon time. For example, instead of having a plain foggy day, maybe a cloud ceiling evening, where you steer your B-2 down through the clouds to make a low-level strike, or having a foggy morning with a fleet of LCACs rolling onto the coast. Just an idea.

This is possible without editing the FA executable. Just open up a pro mission file in a text editor and you can change the weather "mode" and the time. At the top of the mission it should look something like this:

textFormat
map ira.T2
layer day2e.LAY 0
clouds 0
wind 65 7

After the clouds line and before the wind line, I think you can simply insert a line like this:

time 12 0

The time can then be inputed in military 24-hour notation. To make it easier, I'd recommend setting the mission up with the weather you want, then when all is done in the FA mission creator, open the text file to change the time.

Well I may be misunderstanding the poster Zephyr, but I think he is asking if multiple weather patterns can be added into a mission, to allow you to fly from one weather front to another... The high altitude cloud bank in some areas or the fog along the cloastline, etc...

Actually, CAG interpreted correctly exactly what I was asking. I'll try and be more specific. As I understand it, each weather is time specific, as in, the overcast weather selection always has a blue sky above the cloud ceiling. I'm wondering if it's possible to have it be night about the ceiling. And also using CAGs example, would it be possible to have more than one weather type on the map at any given time. Thanks guys.

I have to say I do not know... I dont think it would be possible with normal weather applicatiosn to the mission. You might be able to build a FOG object item or a CLOUD item you can add to specific locations in the mission, but the specific mission weather is set at the very top of the mission and If you add additional weahter commands they will override previous ones in the file(just like you override the default weather on the map MM file when you create weahter specific missions). So at this point I would ahve to say no, but possible down the road as more source code is altered...

CAG out...
