2 more to add to the wish list.

would like to have the map display take the place of one of the cockpit windows, maybee "other" or "RCS" which I never use, would be really cool to have a zoomable moving map display IN the cockpit!!

also I beg of you to give us 1 color pallat to work with in the game LOL spent all night and day last friday and saterday, working on the interface screens, seems like each one has it's own pallat ( they dont but it SURE SEEMS that way LOL )

1. More planes, each one with a pull down menu where you can choose your paint job (with multiple paint jobs for each nationality)

Hi,

FA-2 requests:

1. Have more than 11 pages of AG and AA weapons, have many more nationalities.
2. Make choppers land on ships like the Tico.
3. If possible for laser guided weapons, have a sopt of red on the targets when viewed seperately(F8).
4. Better smoke trails, not the white puffs, nor the transperant bubbles, something in between, like a thin white trail.
5. Lots and lots of ECM devices, and Home On jam modes(or is that already possible?)
6. Better ASW missions, with choppers being able to use torpedos more realistically.
7. Better weather, in terms of sea states and rocking of ships etc.

11 pages of weps that's a nice start, KAP3 has 20 pages.

CAG has or did have ships other than carriers that can land choppers on.

better smoke in KAP3

remember AI in CURRANT FA wont use jammers, just chaff and flare. Wish CAG could find a way to have AI pop as much ECM as nessesary rather than just 3 per missle.

what do you mean by choppers using torps more realistically?

Hi KAP,

Well, I would like to see the torpedos have a more realistic shape, be able to drop and splash into the water and use depth charges.
And have an underwater spalsh when the sub gets it.

And agree with you on the chaff flare bits.
Towed decoys would be cool too.
And, dumb Q, how did you manage 20 pages?

when will KAP3 be ready?

I use an invisible shape for my torpedo since once they hit the water you cant see them anyway. I have a nice clunk release sound followed by a splash sound when torp is launched, so all in all it's not TOO bad.

You might get the watersplash when the sub blows up if you set the sub to have a water explosion when it is destroyed.

20 pages? it's all the SAMs and vehicle guns, they take up a lot of slots in FA. Most of them are very similar in range and other aspects to each other, just do your research and you'll get an idea of how many you can use for other weapons, (especially all those IR vehicle SAMs they will ALL have a range around 3 miles at most so why have all of them different when we are cramped for space in the game) and have just 8 or 9 SAM missles to use in ALL the ships and vehicles. Same with the guns so many are SO similar that it makes no sense not to use some of them for other things.

When will KAP3 be ready? who knows! I thought it was ready for the last 2 or 3 weeks, keep finding new things to try, like all those Nam era planes this time lol. Hmmmm.... subs with a water explosion......... oh well another week of testing lolol

Yea, in the current (updated) version of FA FUtures, my torpedo is strictly a shadow that travels on the top of the ocean. its an invisible shape with a shadow, so the shape flies through the air, but the shadow stays flat on the ocean to simulate the torpedo running below the surface... It has the big water explosion when it hits a target...

My requests for FA-2
Beside all of yours above....

Could the sky above the "high-level clouds" be all black, to simulate
space? Or with a "transition-zone", ie, sky color goes gradually
from blue to black (or all black during nighttime)

Make possible helicopter (Harriers too?) landings on the oil rigs.

aerial refuelling.

MORE maps! MORE structures/houses, that you could shoose their
colors and shapes. Eh, I'd like to be able to replicate my home town!
Make that WORLDWIDE map!!

Kinda like a "map toolkit" of some short.

Brakes and flaps are only "all-on" or "all-off"; make them "variable", like
a few incrementing positions.

NASA stuff!!! Like flying the B-52 and dropping the flyable X-15 and other
planes, even the B-29 and the X-1.

Ever heard of the Akron and Macon? They were big blimps with planes
inside them, from the '30's. Yep, the planes took-off and "landed" on a
flying ship! That would be nice to have! Even a more "ahem" MODERN
versions........

fully amphibious planes. Water-bombers anyone? PLEASE!

A "skycrane" helicopter what could pick-up (and drop) stuff. Other
less powerfull similar helicopters doing the same things. For example,
space capsules recovery. Or search and rescue missions.

Cargo planes dropping stuff. DRIVEABLE stuff.

A few platoons of scantilly-clad sexy nurses. (for psychological warfare?)
Better stop now before I go nuts...........

I worked on the cargo planes dropping stuff lonnnng ago (not drivables though) but never got it to not blow up when it hit the ground(even had the "weapons" ICONs finished for tanks and Humvees and stuff)

Yeah I'll help all I can once KAP3 is out, but I'm no programming wiz, I'll do whatever scut work needs doin so the code writers can do thier thing, no problem.

I THINK I have made a pretty important discovery lastnight...

I believe I know where the airborne AI commands are stored and accessed by the game to tell the AI what to do in certain battle situations...

I started a string on this on the board to discuss what people want to see in the way of AI changes...

Here is a short list of changes in the next MAJOR VERSION (V5.00) release (tenative release date of Jan 1, 04)of FA Futures (this is NOT the Upaate Changes that I have been releasing recently to fix and enhance V4.00)...

1) Helo landable oil rigs

2) major increase in usable weapons (following some of KAP's advice, as I already overwrote many of the default weapons, but there is still room for more!)

3) aerial refuelling (possible through the source code changes, but this is a 'hopeful' change. I 'hope' I have time to finish it! LOL!)

4) AI aircraft AND ships (and ground based jammers)using ECM, ships also using chaff and flares against incoming threats. (again this is possible through source code changes as I have isolated the areas where the AI is given commands when they are targetted and fired upon)

5) Sonar for ASW aircraft with droppable sonar buoys(again possible in editing the source code).

6) Targettable inbound ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. AI will shoot SAMs at them unless they are 'stealth' missiles...(yes this is code diting also, and airborne AI aircraft will shoot Air to Air missiles at cruise missiles detected within their range).

FA Futures V5.00 will not be out for awhile... Possibly by Jan 1st, 04. It depends on whether I can 'con' Kap into helping us out or not! :wink:


KAP, just to let you know... You dont have to work within the multiple pallettes of the the other screens... you can simply selelct one screen pallette you like and use that screen in MS paint and use the SAVE AS command to save it within the toolkiit for each screen you open in the editor after you delete the TK opened BMP file. Sorry you wasted so much time on the other screens! You didnt have to... heh... :twisted:
