I like to create pro missions. When I build a wing staying on the airport and commanded to take off after some minutes, the wing don't take off. Can you tell me why and how to solve this problem. :?

yep. they do that sometimes. its because your airport was either friendly or enemy by default and you changed it to the other one.

Endless Plane Taxiing?
Q. In some of my custom missions, aircraft do not take off from their airbase, but merely taxi across the ground. What causes this?

A. This problem is caused by the nationality alignment assignment of the runway and can affect AI flights and your wingmen.

Each FA map has default friendly and enemy national assignments. The problem is caused by changing these assignments. If one changes the friendly/enemy status of a runway that by default was enemy, and then place on that runway aircraft of a nationality that was by default friendly, the aircraft will not take off.
This also works in reverse. For example, on the Baltics map, Estonia is by default friendly (blue). If Estonia is changed to enemy, then Russian (default enemy, and still enemy in this scenario) aircraft are placed on the runway, they will not take off. Estonian aircraft (now enemy) may take off (I'm not sure), so that could be a potential work-around.

The way to solve it is simple. In the Vladivostok map, for example, Russia is friendly and China is enemy. If you west Russia to enemy you'll get the endless taxiing problem if you put a Russian MiG-29 on the ground at a Russian airport. Simple take a Chinese airport (or something that was enemy at default) and place it directory over the Russian airport and make sure it’s a perfect fit. Put your plane down and it'll take off normally when it's ready.

I have noticed over time building missions that :
A) Some planes require the larger airfields to work correctly.
I.E. ... the Mig-21 seems to really prefer a longer runway.
B) Some airports tend to handle 7 maybe 8 at most , depending on aircraft types, without stacking planes on top of another, and or creating the "taxi" situation.
I.E. ... placing plane on the Carriers and or the med sized airports.

So I always "key 3" em to look at what type of airport it is when building missions and try to "time", that is in the time to await launch section of plane setup, try to set it to where the game is not launching to many wings at one time. This seems to cut down on the "taxi" situation. Another thing I also have noticed is that placing way points for AI flights that cause the wing to take off and immediately turn also causes the "taxi" situation when you make missions with lots of planes and wings, so I tend to give the AI flights a first way point that will let most of the wing come straight off runway headed for way point before the leader makes his first turn.

Nice question,
great response CENT.
Good string.

I personally just place static aircraft whenever I create a pro-mission. All you have to do is give a ground object (such as a truck), the shape for the aircraft that you want in the FA toolkit, and it will be static.

However whenever they are destroyed they revert back to their old vehicle destroyed shapes, instead of looking like a destroyed aircraft.

This is the FA Forum... Please keep its topics directly on FA...

The reason the aircraft are not taking off, is due to the type of airbase you used... If it does not have 'this object has a long runway' checked (and some default FA runways do NOT have this), then aircraft requiring long distances to take off will only sit on the runway instead of taxing and taking off...

Its that simple...

I did some further testing and I need additional infromation from you... What aircraft were you tyring to have take off and at what aiport(the number) and what map? Also was this stock FA or a modified version?

Thanks,
