just a note, the local news did a report on the B-2 here in MO getting it's upgrade to carry 80 500lb JDAMS and direect them to seperate targets, no news there but they did have video of the new 500lbers and they dont have the regular JDAM body strakes of the larger weapons. Instead they have very small strakes at the very front of the weapon directly behind or surrounding the fuse area, only about 6 to 10 inches long and I think only 2 one on each side of the nose.

RG yeah it'll take 80, B-1B 84, and B-52 52. Can we say airfield denial?

LOL well 80 JDAMs or 84 or 52 landing on an airfield can certainly disable all air defenses, the tower, the radar, and any aircraft on the tarmac, oh yeah and pepper the runway pretty bad.

And cost about 1/2 as much... Tomahawks are to expensive! (that is, 80 JDAMS cost 1/4 to 1/2 as much as a single Tomahawk..., if that much! Each kit is what, $3000.00? vs what, $500,000.00 or a $1,000,000.00 for a Tomahawk?)

And to think- Jimmy Carter wanted to cut the B-1 program in favor of the cruise missile

That is a really good point Da Big! I wrote him a letter (Pres Carter) protesting his decision to cancel the B-1A infavor of the crusie missile for this exact reason (though at the time the threat was the Soviet Union) and had it published in some major News Papers editorial sections... It was an extensive letter and highly technical. I simply got a form letter back from him, until the Washington post Editor mentioned that I knew more about the current situation and our military forces then he seemed to...

Not bad for just a kid...

Well Jimmy Carter didn't know much about anything except human rights and giving in to Iranian's as well as ditching our CIA spies and such on the ground because, "The US government wasn't going to work with scum," yet scum on the ground in Afghanistan could have given us some advance warning on good ole 911.

Yeah, Jimmy Carter was weak. He had no backbone, he had no will to use force if it was required. I hate the fact that he's an Atlanta Brave's fan too, because his face is plastered all over the t.v. in every game the Braves play.

IMO- Kennedy was the last good Democrat to ever be in the Oval Office.

I wouldnt even go that far... The last good Demo(as far as military defense) would have to be FDR(who was a socalist politically, and thus against our system in the end)...

His replacement Truman let China fall and caused the Korean War and then didnt have the backbone to win it...

Kennedy and LBJ caused the Vietnam War and then didnt have the balls to let the military win that one either...

Kennedy also abandoned the Cuban Exiles to Castro at the Bay of Pigs where one aircraft carrier could have turned the entire battle, much less the entire SE section of the Tactical Air Command. This failure is what led to the Cuban Missile Crisis 3 years later and the Berlin Wall...

Add to the fact that he was sleeping with a woman who was an East German spy!
